Found Gerbings outlet store and they have some great deals. But I was wondering - before I pull the trigger - what y'all think about their products?

I rode to work this am and it was about 50 degrees. I was fine, but I felt a slight chill. It was damp with near zero visibility due to the fog. I am uber wimpy in the cold though. I can tell when the 20's get here, I will need something else.

here is what is in my cart right now:

Union Ridge Pants (41" - 42", 42", Male)
SKU/Part No: URP
$99.99 1 $99.99
Temperature Controller
SKU/Part No: MDTGOD
$39.99 1 $39.99
Jacket Liner (41" - 42", 32", Male)
SKU/Part No: JLT
$89.99 1 $89.99
Sub Total: $229.97
Shipping & Handling: $23.00

Grand Total: $252.97

If you shop their regular prices, you will see that those prices are around 50% off.

A guy I know has some widder gloves he may sell and the outlet store is out of gloves right now.

Here is their outlet store: www.heatedclothingoutlet.com

I've been looking at this stuff for years and will probably actually buy some this year--just don't tolerate cold so well anymore. Everything I have read about preferences of Gerbings over Widder boils down to whether one likes Widder's arm & leg chap concept.

Personally, I feel the Gerbing style would be easier to get in and out of, so I appreciate the timely link.

You'll want the gloves and socks too. I got my whole setup from eBay. It is H-D branded, but IIRC made by Gerbing. I love it. I still have a bit of trouble with keeping my legs warm w/o cooking my torso, but I figure the Carhart company can fix this for me. I can spend hours riding in 40 degree temp, with no ill effects. Anyone who thinks they may need it, needs it. Some of the best money I've spent.

I wondered about the charging system, but I wore it right into the garage, and plugged in the battery tender when I unhooked. The green light came on as quickly as ever.

Thanks for all the info. I think I will go ahead and place my order. I can't find it cheaper. Not even on ebay.

Fixed it for ya! If you need to find a quick replacement for one of your kids' pet gerbils who kicks the bucket unexpectedly, this is the place to go! :roflback:

Sorry - I couldn't resist. Since I moved from Michigan, I don't have any use for heated clothing. My apologies for the thread hijack... :outtahere:

I love mine...but all you really need is gloves and sock liners if you have good heavy leathers, longjohns and a face mask/shield...I've worn mine in temps below 20...get the thermostat...set it the way you want it and ride...

Placed my order. Can't wait to get the stuff in and give it a test. I ordered the dual-control thermostat. Does anyone know if I will need to purchase longer cords or anything else to connect this to my bike??? Never had anything like this before. Thanks.

Your stuff should come with the appropriate wiring harnesses...

Yup, you should be all good to to with what is sent to you.

Let us know how it all works out.

For those prices, seems to me they'd be seconds or something, but you never know till you try.

Thanks for the link!

So do these plug into a Harley style, wired in, battery charging plug?

darrell
10-19-2007, 09:50 PM
Gerbings plug into an A/V type plug. I've modified my trickle chargers to plug directly into the Gerbings plug, so I only need on pictail off the battery.

Here's a pic of their splitter, with the A/V type plugs that all Gerbing equipment uses:

http://www.gerbing.com/images/acc/splitter.jpg

They do have a plug that looks like it would plug into the pigtail connector for the batt. tender, but I do not know if this would work, as it is designed for compability with earlier Gerbing clothing.

I found out that even though the vest has plugs in the sleeves, you need to plug the power into the glove part, jeez am I a dumb ass, my hands were frozen??? get the splitter. I just have a simple on off switch but now that the gloves actually get hot, I think I need the controller. MMMMMMMM toasty...

Thanks for the info... They emailed me and to say they were actually out of the pants. That sucks. I have the jacket liner and dual thermostat on the way. I post up when I get them with a pic or two.

I have the jacket liner and the gloves Along with Portable Dual Temp-Controller. You will need the Temp-Controller. I can leave the gloves on high but not the jacket liner.

well I thought my gf's liner was on its way, but instead I was sent a splitter. I call customer service a few days ago asking about my stupidity on hooking up the liner, and without asking, telling or even charging me they sent out a splitter. It was in the mailbox when I came home from harley after buying a splitter! Good to see there are still some good companies out there. BTW, send in your registration, because they asked my name but never my address but must have had it in their computy.

Well they may not be seconds but they aren't firsts either. This is from their website.

Please keep in mind that items sold from this store are not first quality items and actual product may differ from items shown.

Buuuuuuuuut, at these prices, I don't care if they are slightly off. I'm thinking I'm going to order the jacket liner myself and the temp controller. Just got back from Daytona with temps in the 80's now back in Detroit and we cant' even break 60s for the high of the day......burrrrrrrr!

Does anyone have the temp controller and can't you just stick it in your pocket instead of velcroing it to your belt or something as they suggest? I don't even like having my cell phone on my side while I'm riding, it bugs the crap outta me having anything touching my sides. My girlfriends right thigh always touches my right love handle and it seems to throw the balance of the bike off. She hates it when I keep reminding her of it so I just sorta have given up and ride with a twisted hip to keep the bike going straight.

Just ordered the jacket liner and dual controller. Can't wait to start keeping warm.

I put a piece of velcro on the back of my coil cover. It barely shows during the summer, and I stick the controller to it in the winter.

I've only walked away forgetting to unplug it a few times..........

I have the little holder that you can buy that has a belt clip. I clip it to my jeans pocket, and therefore avoid the dreaded poke in the 'ol love handle.

My stuff has STILL NOT come in. This is taking forever.

You may remember I ordered the liner, dual temp controller, and the Union over pants. They emailed me the day after I placed my order stating that the website was incorrect and they did not have my size in pants. (No longs what so ever). And I was pretty much SOL. I called them. Same deal. They did have one pair of that new fancy smancy cascade extremes (armor, heat shields) with a small hole in the knee but over the armor. Those pants retail for $299 and they would sell them for $229, but that was still too much for me.

Chick promised they would call me once the outlet is restocked.

I also need gloves. Ride in was 34 degrees this am. Thinsulate is WAY overrated.

I just got the liner I ordered for the ole lady on the outlet site-don't be surprised when yours shows up! Mine is the newer model with the PDU, hers is the older model with just wires, it doesn't have the zippers for the glove wires just little pouches for them to slip into, it also only has one wire input and one wire output, so you will not be able to adjust gloves and jacket separately, you may not need the dual adjuster cause there is only one wire. The jacket is perfect and these are not reasons to send it back for sure, its a deal at half price. If you need to get rid of the dual thermostat because yours is the same, pm me I might be interested.

I've been emailing Heather at the Heated Outlet Clothing Store and haven't gotten any response. I just go on the website and this is what's going on:

HEATED CLOTHING OUTLET IS CURRENTLY CLOSED. THIS SITE WILL RE-OPEN IN SPRING OF 2008.

I don't know if my order is being processed or has been cancelled. I wish they would respond to my emails because I am about to go out and buy one elsewhere but don't want to end up with 2 jacket liners and controllers.:Hurt: I need to get something soon, it's getting pretty darn cold up here in Michigan!

I didn't know the 2 sites were one in the same. I called the main Gerbings site and they said they will be shipping my order out today. I guess I got my order in right under the wire before they closed for the season.

Glad to hear it! My GF got hers last week I didn't know it shut down either saw it another forum.

BTW: The one she got was the older style didn't have separate power plug ins for glove/jacket, just 1 input that controls the glove wires and jacket and an output for pants/socks. So don't be surprised if that's what you get. It workes just fine though
