Howdy doof/zint brothern.

I have some updates.

1. Progressive seems to be great. The adjuster was really nice and was VERY thorough.

q. The bike is bad... I don't know the final number, but it is close to 10k. The adjuster even tried to figure a way to total it for me. He said he hated the fact that I was going to have to wait on repairs and figured I might rather just get a new bike. He called me at 9pm last night to find out if I had gap. I don't, but did not need it. I stole and financed that bike for just over 16k. Since the NADA Average retail is 18k without taxes and 1k in accessories, I would have had cash coming back. So he ran some salvage numbers and pushed for a total.

I was prepared for either answer. Total - get a black (no paint upgrade costs) 08 FLHTC. Or fix my bike and I get my 'ole girl back. 3800 miles since September = memories and quite the bond I have with 'er.

I got the call today. They are gonna !fix my gal! and write me two checks. One for accessories and the other for the bike.

8. Bad News.... THREE MONTHS to get the parts and fix everything according to my local HD stealer. Between the holidays and the shutdowns, it ain't good. Since the frame is tweaked, they are replacing it. When I say tweaked... I mean very minor tweaking. The tab where the crash bar mounts just in front of the gas tank is slightly bent outward. That was enough for my adjuster to say, he was going to replace the frame. I guess that is good. Just sucks to have to wait so long to get a new one.

VIII. More bad news.... we only have one vehicle since the bike was my way around. I hate to leave the wife at home with no wheels because of the baby in case of an emergency.

14. Some light at the end of the tunnel.... my buddy has a really nice 87 Cavalcade he willing to let me borrow for the duration. Basically a low miles bike he has kept for posterity. A really great gesture. This is the guy in the "thundermax" video I posted up in the video clip forum. I hope to get him to join our cause at some point.

So that is basically where I am at right now. My poor bike is still leaning in the garage. I need to get the remaining accessories off of her and get her to the shop once the checks get here.

Guess I am a pseudo bagger owner at this point. Wonder if Gazoo will like me now. :Poke: :)

Good Luck with it. If you just HAD to pick three months out of the year to be without, this is at least the right time of year.

Now, the real challenge will be Not becoming a Cavalcade Convert!

Excellent point!

Thanks. I guess it is not a done deal until my ol' gal is back in the garage and back to her old self. I just wonder how much my insurance is going to increase! :sofa:

A whole lot less than if you would have had to fix that bike out of your own pocket!

I could think of worse ways to get around....

I wish I lived somewhere where my bike could be my only transportation...

It hasn't stopped snowing here for over a week.

Have I mentioned I HATE winter?

TJ - If the insurance company writes you the checks - makes it out to you, you may be able to order theparts yourself and put her back together. Come out ahead financially. I had a small wreck last year - thats what I did.
