I am the Texas Chairperson for the 4th Annual AT&T Pioneer MRFTT. I am also ride leader for the Abilene leg of the ride. The ride will be held September 20. We have six starting points, Abilene (West Texas), Austin, Mansfield (DFW), San Antonio, Waco and Wichita Falls. Our destination point for all six cities is Kay's Motorcycle Mania in Nolanville, Texas (which is in the heart of Dineroland :) .) Starting point addresses for each city can be found on our website . . . http://www.motorcycle-run-for-the-troops.org/ . Riders can register and pay online, as well as through the mail. We also accept sponsor donations online.
Kay is renting her place to us for $1.00 and The Patriot Guard Riders, CenTex Chapter, is donating brisket and beans for 1500 folks. Thank you Kay and the PGR! I love these people! All of our folks donate their time, and we have very little overhead which enables us to donate the vast majority of our proceeds to military charity organizations chosen by each start city.
I would love for y'all to come ride with us! :Tonya:

I failed to mention if a sponsor donates $100 or more their name goes on the back of our ride t-shirt. Here's a shot of the back of our shirt from last year. . . The same shirt for all six cities so this is great advertising for the money! :Tonya:

Ms T, I was on the planning committee for first one that the Pioneers arranged from San Antonio and then for the next one where we included the other areas. I have a pic on my desk with the San Antonio riders moving down I-10 toward Shiner (we met at the brewery that year). Lot's of planning, but a good payoff and a GREAT charity. Thanks for stepping up and arranging the West Texas group.

I organized the DFW run last year, my first year to be involved, and I'm trying to organize West Texas. . .but it's huge and I don't have the contacts I did in Fort Worth. . .we shall see. . . :DD I've heard stories about the Shiner run. . . hope to see you in Nolanville this year. . .it's going to be fun!

I don't think Mark's working it this year. He stops by my office every morning, a truly great guy (even if he does ride a RoadStar). Donna is the contact person this year. The last year I rode, they announced that I could bless bikes for whomever wanted it. I had so many people waving me down I was almost late for the start! I'm going to try and make it this year, but I've already got something else scheduled that is kind of difficult to get out of.

We have weekly conference calls, Donna is, indeed the contact person for San Antonio. Mark is the ride leader . . .or so he says. I hope that's true or we're gonna have a lot of San Antonio folks wandering around lost! :DD
I got an email from a gentleman serving in Afghanistan yesterday. He has posted our flyer and a pic from the ride last year in a 'forward position' in Afghanistan. He said it garnered a lot of positive attention and smiles. It suddenly makes it all worth it. . . you know? :Tonya:

Yeah, I talked to him after I posted. He said that he was leading. Having rode behind Mark in the past, he will keep thing moving, he doesn't let any grass grow beneath his tires.
That's great that the flyer made it over there!
My goddaughter's dad just returned from Iraq. He brought me a "Harley Fallujah" t-shirt and an bar and sheild patch printed in arabic. I'm sewing it on my vest next to my Nam vet patch.

Thank you, Ma'am. I've been taking this trip every month for the past 5 years, it gets kinda old.
:tear: And with two daughters living out on the island in Corpus Christi, I'm kind of worried about "fringe effects" of Dolly.

Four days left until the run and I am so excited I can't stand it. We are trying very very hard to set up a web cam so that some of our soldiers can attend our event virtually. Y'all keep your fingers crossed for us on this one, because if we pull this off we may actually be able to connect someone at our event with a family member overseas.
We got our brochure finished today! Whooo-hoooo! :Tonya:

Looking forward to it Tonya! We are trying to figure out if we are going to stay overnight in the Waco area so that we could go to the Brazos Biker Bash. That's not far from a road that I have had circled on my map for further exploration :DD

Limited camping available for Cloud Riders at the actual event. See me for details.
The ride would be a nice touch, Billy.
