Some of you know I have been toiling away at my home improvement projects... well for the rest of ya:

Started with sanding the finish off of the finished concrete... Then laying of tile in front of front door. In front of back door extending in front of the place. This area also connects to the breakfast area and the kitchen. I also put tile in the washroom. I still need do the bathrooms and master closet with 12" tile.

I have been on this project for longer than I care to share but working till dark, having virtually no help and limited to just a couple hours a day risk waking up baby otherwise... it has taken a while. If you have had a large tile project - hell even a small one - you know it ain't easy. Takes forever as a one man gig. Can't mix up too much mortar or it'll get hard on ya. Takes longer to prep and clean than actually do the work. Then the grouting.. oh my. Way worse part. Dirty... takes me like three cleanings to get it done. Thankfully, I found some nice sealant that just sprays down.

Anyway... here are the latest pics. I just sprayed some sealant. One more coat to go. I also have to put down the new 1/4 round and paint the trim. The walls are getting new paint so this will be done at the same time.

I just replaced the backdoor so the trim around it needs painting as well.

And today...

Carpet dudes showed up. They work less than Gov'mnt IT Contractors and take way more breaks. Ooops... I think they wandered off again. I waited an extra two weeks to get on these guy's schedule.

Phil: "I WANT your best. You see? The BEST I say."
Salesman: "When do you want the carpet installed."
Phil: "Don't bother me with Trivial questions man. Just get me the BEST."
Salesman: "Ooookaaaaayyyy, but it will be an extra two weeks or so."
Phil: "I'll have none of that. Just get me the best. And how!"

(I was wearing a top hat and carrying a cane for some reason... I don't know..."

Three weeks later, these guys show up. Good work... but damn, now I have to miss work tomorrow as well and they only did one hall, Bri's play room, Bri's bedroom and the back bedroom. (Both small rooms)

If they laid carpet as often as the smoked, , , , , , just sayin...

That black void in the middle of the picture tells the whole story...

But it looks good. The install that is. They do fine work. Careful and courteous. When they are working, they are doing it right.

Teaser Pics: That dirt pile was under the carpet mat!!!! It looked like sand under there! He said he has swept up enough to fill a trash barrel before. Wow. Missy threw up in her mouth a little when she saw the amount of dirt under the mat.

Looks SO good in fact....

I've got a "small" flooring project here that you're MORE than welcome to come assist with.

:DD

I kinda effed up, and took out a wall, now I have to fix the floor.

I'm thinking throw rug.

A rug and a nice potted plant. Yep. That's it. Fixes it every time.

Nice, but it took too long.

I have many reasons and or excuses for it taking as long as it did...

But you are right. It did take too long. It was a bit much for me. Never laid tile and I was a one man show. Most of it done with only my porch light to guide me.

Ohhh and let me give you one more little nugget to save away...

When you have a tile project and would like friends to help. NEVER EVER tell them what it is they are coming over to help with.

They scatter like cock-a-roaches when the light comes on.

Best freinds will suddenly spend time with their wives and you will be OUT COLD!

Ok. Have an update. I got everything finished today 'cept the bathrooms. The installers did a good job on the carpet even though they broke one of my precious tiles... It's fixed now though. Just have to wait to seal the grout.

Here is the Gallery.

Just fast forward to what you have not seen - if you like.

Page 4 of 5 has the updated pics.... can't remember. (http://tj-willy.smugmug.com/gallery/6458155_xHb5E/3/436731783_YX2Fb#P-3-15)
