Been One year for me clean from the evil Weed called tobacco.

Anyone need help with it, I am here to at least make you laugh.

I had it bad. Needed a fix every 10 minuets to keep the monkey at bay.

Spend 6 months with withdrawal symptoms.

A year later and the room still spins when I get a trigger.

It was controlling my life.........

I found out that my mom smoked while I was growing in her. I was a toback baby.

Popeye, I'm with you.

I smoked like h***!!!!!

Stopped cold turkey Valentines Day 1991.
Quenched the urge with Scoal LongCut Wintergreen.

I swapped one Nicotine infusion method for another!

Finally, 2 days before my son was born in 1994 I looked into the mirror and decided I had more to live for.

I swapped to some mint-based placebo dip-crap and got my a$$ off tobacco!

Never goin' back...advise ALL against!

Me too, Popeye, I'm here to help you help!

I've been off Cope for a little over a year. Used to Dip all the time and smoke at work as well. Quit it all. Never miss the smoking, but damn not a day goes by that I dont wake up brush my teeth and the first thing I think of is where is my snuff. If my insurance at work wouldn't be $40 per month if you use tobaco I would go buy a can right not!

I hear you Capt.
When people hear I've quit smokin' they say " Do you ever want a cigarette?"
I always tell them "NO...I want a dip!"

It is a powerful drug.

You are singing to the choir, here!

You will quit when you are ready.

If you need some help and encouragement along the way I'm here.

Ya just got to wake up in the morning and say to yourself ---shit I just went 8 hours without a dip,,,, I can handle another five minutes without one.

Then after you make it for 8 hours and five minutes you tell yourself that it sure would be nice to have a dip but then you would have to start all over again and by the time you figure that out it has been 8 hours and ten minutes and you start to sweat and it don't get much better than that for at least two weeks but cold turkey is the only way.

I quit a two cans per week of Copenhagen a year and a half ago and no B/s it still ain't easy.

But I don't have to ride at the back of the pack so all the sissies wont get any grasshopper juice on them. :whistling:

If I can quit a one can a day copenhagen habit anybody can quit tobacco. Its scary how much money I was spening on that crap... that tasty tasty yummy crap that I still crave lol.

I tried the pills, buproprien or some such not sure how it was spelled... generic version of Wellbutrin anyway. They didn't seem to help me much, I ended up using patches and chewing nicotine gum.

Quit smoking (the last of several attempts) 4 1/2 years ago. I had tried cold turkey, hypnosis, gum, patches and the only thing that finally did help was Wellbutrin/Zyban. Former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop said nicotine was as addictive as heroin and from my experience, he was on target. Quitting was the hardest thing I have ever done. And, yes, almost five years later I still occasionally crave a cigarette.

Still smoking after all these years. I don't have the desire to quit at this time. I tried a couple of times and found it very difficult. Quitting drinking and Heroin was easier!

I smoked 3 packs a day solid until I was 30. Went to Dr to get patch when it was a prescription. Dr told me I smoked to much that I would have to get down to 1.5 packs before they gave me the patch.
I told him **** that give it to me and she did. Smoked my last cigarette when I left the DR and havent had once since like 92.
Of course I ended up quiting my job and gaining weight.. But it was worth it in the long run.

Hardest thing I have ever done.

Tried a million times to quit.

Tried Gum, Patch, mints, dip pills,,,,,

Finally did the pills and patch...freaking hard.

I would cut the patch into small pieces and chew it...That was a nice buzz

I liked chew, In fact It was the tobacco buzz...I would like nicotine in any shape or forum, as Long as I was on the train.

Off that ship now...still clean...Would I dig a tobacco buzz right now...You know it...But I be clean...Just typing about it made me drool.

I started smoking when I was 14. I stopped when I was 14. The reason? My father "informed" me that smoking was hazardous to my health, either medically in the long term, or [here he doubled up a fist] in the short term. :roflback:

i quit the night before my surgery, and that was 4 days ago. i'm still going strong, no urges or any thing, but right now just the thought of lighting up hurts. i haven't had all the normal withdrawal signs like before, but i think that's because of the pain meds i'm on right now. i wanted to stop before surgery to help the healing process, but it just didn't work out that way.

It made skiing out west (8,000 - 12,000 ft. above sea level) a whole hell of a lot easier too. Used to take 45 minutes to go top to bottom, 10 to 15 skiing and the rest stopping to catch my breath.

I used to smoke occasional cigars about 15 years ago and started smoking again about 1 year ago. I have a humidor, actually 3 humidors now. I may smoke up to 4 or 5 a week depending on the outside weather. I do enjoy the relaxing "me" time and sometimes have some Grand Marnier with one. I don't feel like I have to have one though. I'm also wondering if this a phase and I may get bored of it or might I already have a slight addiction to it. I know it's not good for me but don't feel it's as bad as inhaling cigarettes every 10 minutes throughout the day. I also work out and haven't noticed any stamina issues either. Anyone been smoking just cigars long term and have any effects from it?

Only when you smoke cheap cigars, they get all stinky and stuff.
I only smoke cigarettes on the weekends. i know its wierd but I have been able to quit smoking during the week (I also don't drink alcohol during the week, which may have something to do with it)
I refuse to give up my cigars...Love my Fuentes Fuentes Opus X with Bourbon...Yummmmm.

ESPECIALLY while working in the garage and complete a task...

You, too??? For me, it seemed like a "reward" for completing a task and I really missed that "Ahhhhhh" feeling I got when I took a break and smoked a cigarette. I haven't had a smoke since Sept. 30, 1999, and to be honest, I know I'm STILL just one cigarette away from buying a carton! I don't have urges anymore and find the smell of an ashtray sickening, but I know how addicted I was and how easily I could get pulled back in if I allowed myself that ONE smoke.

For anyone wanting to quit, try this: Empty an ashtray into a glass jar and add about 1/2 cup of water. It looks disgusting and smells even moreso. Every time you get the urge to smoke, take the top off the jar and get a good whiff :Scared: Keep in mind, your breath will smell like this after you smoke! Yuck!

Quitting smoking is as much if not more, a mental thing as it is physical. You have to find ways to make your MIND not want to smoke more than your body DOES want to smoke.

I was a 2 to 3 pack a day smoker and have likely saved enough in the past nine years to buy 2 Road Kings!!

Something about dying several times on the table while they replaced his plumbing and being layed up in the hospital for quite a while helped him fight the urge. Nope, actually having a pretty good day except for my wife having treatment today. Just the general opinion I have developed about people in general. You know...kind of like the 95/5 rule....5% of the people are bringing something to the table...The other 95% are just sucking up my air.

I do agree wholeheartedly. Hope it goes well with your wife.

I started smoking after 14-15 years when my wife got cancer, imagine she is getting radiation and I am outside smoking-its kinda sick.......

your one of my 5%!
