Formal Introduction
Howdy Folks I'm Chuck(request moniker Chalee)
I'm from the Central/North Jersey area. Love to ride been riding about 4 years general noob. Ahh my first ride. My older brother brought over his 2003 Sportster Sport straight from the dealer. When I asked can I ride much to my suprise his answer was sure. Then when I got on he realized his error when I asked which side is the clutch was on. Realising I had never been on a bike before he told me it's much like driving a stick. Feel for the friction zone. He asked if I still wanted to try probably hoping I'd say no. A man of his word he let me ride with the last instructions if it starts to stall give it gas or pull the cluch. I started out great untill it started to stall remembering his instructions I did the only natural thing GIVE IT GAS. All I heard was the rumble of exhaust and some faint cries of "pull the clutch pull the clutch". I relaxed and thought I'll just go around the cul-d-sac and pull up to my bro nice and easy and show him how good a first timer I am. Unfortunatly knowing how to steer is crucial for such a situation so rather than a nice smooth turn it was a wobbly ride onto the neighbors lawn. Once the engine came to a nice smooth churning stall I heard the patter of boots running up behind me. Not worried to much about me he shot right over to the bike "it's not down it's not down thank God!! I stopped looking when the front wheel came off the ground," this bit of detail he has blocked out, at times in fact he doesn't recall any of it. I however was hooked and proud of the fact I went for my fisrt ride on a Harley. One year later I had my own sporty a 2000 sportster sport. This past august I traded that in and got me my present ride a 2006 softail standard. Looking forward to my 43 ride. Gonna be a long one. I try to ride every day during the season and a few cold cold days off season.
