installed today. Took the wheels off today. Dropped them off at the indy to have new rubber put on. When I was putting the wheels back on, Patti came out and helped me with the wrenching........

I put Metz on again. I've had a replacement 150 rear sitting in the basement since Oct of 07. They gave me a free one to replace the 150 that was really about a 135.
I did do the vent mod, but don't have many miles since I did it.

Curious Warren, what kind of mileage did you get out of your Metz's? I'm about 6,000 miles into mine, and I don't think they're gonna go past 8 or 9.

I get 8-9k out of the rear and a bazillion miles out of the front.

For the life of me I can't figure out why I'm chewing up my front tire so quickly. I killed the front Dunlop well before the rear as well.

Maybe it is the stoppies.

This is a single-disc Softail. I couldn't do a stoppie if I had a gun to my head.

Those Metzlers don't grip well in gravel and grass. Just an FYI.

I think I read a government study somewhere that said the traction on a motorcycle tire was directly related to its being in contact with the pavement.....

I've had Metzlers for quite a while. Mine are from Brazil and famously not as wide as they are supposed to be. Apparently you also ran into this. I am wondering about the replacement they sent you...is it really 150mm? Is it German? I bought 150s for both ends and the front measures about 142 while the rear measured about 145. Despite that little glitch, I'd say I'm very impressed with them and their mileage. I've got over 13K on these on a Road King and they don't look completely gone yet...in fact the rear looks a lot better than the Dunlop did at 6000.
Congrats on the new rubber.

Congrats on the new rubber.
I called them during the first few weeks of the news hitting the forums about the size problem. They took my number because they didn't have a plan for what to do about it yet.
Got a call about a month later and was asked where do you want the new tire sent. The replacement is correct in size. If I hadn't already had a new rear, I would have switched to Avon or Elite 3.

I can't get Boop engaged that far.
Perhaps you could give me lessons?
Her super-hero name is "Bike Lift Girl", but that's as far as it goes at the moment.

Was the replacement also brasil made? If it was, was it marked in any different way from the undersize one? Sort of wondering if there is a telltale to look for if I saw some on the shelf.

Many years of asking for a hand with stuff. You need to be gentle though, like please and thank you and crap.

No different markings. I think they just had a bad run on the 150.

Yes, I do go out and help Warren work on his bike. I ride on it too, I have to make sure it's done right don't I?
:roflback::roflback:
Mega, he isn't really that nice to me when I help with the bike. He gets a little, shall I say, grouchy sometimes. He does say thanks and all that crap.
