View Full Version : Low Cat woes....

So.......Everyone who saw my bike this past weekend loved the way it looked except for two things.....The plug wires, which are taken care of, and the pipe. The Low Cat was put on in late March when Dave did the dyno tune, and it looks like poo-poo now. Frank mentioned that he had a similar issue with a Bub's exhaust, and that he sent them pictures of it, and they sent him a new exhaust.
So I figured, what do I have to lose?
I sent D&D an email with these pictures, and an offhand mention of this place and the VTF, and within a few minutes got an email back asking for the part number and my address so they could get me a new one. They totally threw their coater under the bus, but that's fine.
Anyway, I'm happy, and I'll have a shiny new pipe. Nice to see a company stand behind its product.

No, it's exactly what it's supposed to be. I'm really impressed with D&D's service and turnaround time.

Swapped out the pipes in less than an hour (scary how good I'm getting at this stuff). Shimmed the new one so that it clears the rear bracket and the axle cover. Looks and sounds great. All told, this whole thing cost me $7 in new exhaust gaskets.
FedEx will pick up the old pipe tomorrow (at no cost to me).
Now all I gotta do is get the front tire back on the bike, and I'm good to go.

No tin snips, and no, I haven't really had the time or inclination to ride the Sporty this week.
