View Full Version : I got a new jacket

I got a really nice leather jacket that I've been using as a riding jacket, and I hated how it let the wind up my sleeve. It really is a sweet jacket, but it's just not a riding jacket. So I went to the local HD dealer a week ago to get some ideas and really liked this (http://www.brucerossmeyer.com/p-72598-authority-3-in-1-mens-blackcamouflage-leather-jacket.aspx). They wanted $450 for it, so I decided to see if i could find it online for less. I went home, put the part number in Google, and found the exact same jacket new on Ebay for $260.

It came in yesterday, so I've had time to test it out. First off, the jacket does exactly what I wanted to do which is keep the wind out. I rode it with just a tshirt on underneath, and I was fine - even later at night when the temp dipped down to 50 degrees. The hoodie is removal for when it gets warm out, and there are vents on the sides too. Even got a few compliments on it, and I haven't even had it a full day yet.

I still need to break it in some, but overall I like it.

Looks like a really good riding jacket Cam and helluva good price as well. The removeable hoodie is a nice added extra.

I *almost* was gonna buy the one at the store since the price was in line with what Fox Creek and Vanson charge. But I just had to check to see if I could find it cheaper. I was thinking that I could save maybe $10 or $20 or so.... definitely not $200!!!

Now I just need some chaps. :sofa:

Ebay is the shiznit when it comes to riding jackets. I've been wanting an FXRG jacket for a while, but choked at the $650 price, even with out discount from Jenni, it was still out of reach. Took my time looking at Ebay, and got one that might as well be new for $300.

I've seen the one you got at the local dealer, it's a nice looking jacket, didn't realize the hood came off. That's a really nice feature.

I rarely buy more than a tshirt from the stealers, unless there's are really good discount or it's on the clearance rack. I've seen that jacket, awesome! I usually have the same ROE when I see something I like in the store. I write down the item number and then search it out at home.

Good find! I may have to check it out. Will work good until it gets really cold up here, at that point, I just use my heavy-weight FXRG that I got for a steal online while I was living in the UK......

Well, now that you're going to be there, might just have to take a ride or head up during snow season for some skiing.

You won't be too far from the East Coast Irregulars. Mayhaps you'll be able to join us for one of our rides.
