That all of these processes are running on my laptop for a good/productive reason? I kinda doubt it.
There have to be 30 things running, split between system and my user. I have run Spybot, 2 different virus detections. Still startup and especially shutdown are a drag. Good grief. Could it just be that the PC is 5 years old?
End rant.

Run msconfig from the start button and turn all that shit off.

Download this: http://www.ccleaner.com/
Then run the cleaner. Then run the registry tool. Then go to "startup" and turn everything off you don't need. Then go to "delete" and delete all the crap you're not using any more. Then run the cleaner. Then run the registry tool.
That should help.
Or just buy a Mac and never worry about that stuff again.

I've been using this lately and found it's very good and free.

Can you load the Mac OS onto a PC?

What operating system are you running?
Take a look at all the things by your clock...for each one of those you could have between 1 and 5 processes running depending on what it is.
At any given time, I have between 60 and 100 processes running. Most are system processes that are crazy little subsystems that allow you to print or view your files or other stuff like that.
If you think you have stuff running that shouldn't be there, get Malwarebytes and run it on your machine...it will clean off the stuff that shouldn't be there, the rest is shutting down all the stuff by the clock that you put there by installing applications and getting them to not start up automatically.
The only thing getting a Mac really does for you is removes half your frontal lobe. :DD

If you start using these clean up tools, I hope you know how to back up your registry, image your system, or what have you in case it blows up your windows!

I do not recommend any registry cleaner, or anything else that will "Automatically" clean up your system. They have tendancies to remove shit that shouldn't get removed.

I recommend using a backup hard drive (internal or external), or dvd disks. I partition my hard drive and run windows out of the C: drive. I have a second hard drive where I store stuff I like (not raid), and I have an USB external hard drive which holds my backup files, and more files (I want to keep). I do a fresh install of WinXP about every two years. If I screw up the c: drive, or it becomes corrupt...wipe it, format, and reinstall WinXP...no biggie. I see a Mac Pro notebook for around $1700. I don't want to spend that much money when I can't upgrade the CPU (and motherboard if needed)every couple of years. Building computers is no brainer if you follow certain steps, and use compatiable hardware. It's a lot easier slapping a puter box together than watching some of you rebuild your motors, etc....:Poke::roflback:
