Since the NOVA Delinquents ride is cancelled, and I didn't get away from Atlanta in time to meet Geno and Sidecar in CA (:whistling:)...

Redleg and I are planning a 3 day cruise to FL for a 43/7/437 trifecta.

We'll leave ATL early-ish Friday AM and get back sometime Sunday.

Who wants to ride??? :woohoo:

I'm figuring a 3 o'clock hook-up & I'm gonna ride maybe 50 miles with them. They're on the way... gonna be dark-thirty when they hit Florida.

Cold like 10 degrees or cold like 50 degrees?

It was only 50 in my pocket tonight when we got in -- I left a little clip on thermometer in there by accident and found it when we got to a Cuban place near my house about 7pm. It warmed up to 60 while we sat in the diner and went from 60 down to 30 on the short, slow, 5 min. ride back to my place. Redleg said it was 25 at Dobbins AFB when we got in.

On Saturday morning I went down stairs to make some much needed coffee. A little bleary eyed and fuzzy headed passed by Roadwolf and Redleg ....Roadwolf was camped out on the couch and Redleg was on a blowup mattress...then I heard a sound that brought me back to deer camp in PA...Roadwolf sawing wood...Redleg just a snoozen right through it...I thought man, he must be tired to be able to sleep through that. I started the coffee and went back up stairs. After a bit, I figured the coffee was done, Mary's dog Sam had to go out and I needed coffee. I came down and they both were up....Roadwolf was in the shower...I said man your a hard sleeper....Redleg chuckled and said no....ear plugs....Roadwolf comes out of the bathroom...I did not wake you did I? Nope, I said you can't hear anything up stairs from down stairs.

One of the high points of this trip for me was getting to see the Pimp Bagger before it gets painted!
:woohoo: I even got to park Silver beside of it. Thanks again Julio & Mary!

After an already well documented evening with Iggy... :whistling:
we headed for a quick run down the coast.
http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/ss231/RoadWolf/RWRLDaytona1-2-10.jpg

The primary mission was FL's Lake County 437. Note that Redleg got 3,
count 'em THREE versions of the 437 sign in the pic.
Oh yeah, and there's a nursery for rent if any one's interested -- it's in a good location...
http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/ss231/RoadWolf/RWatFLLakeCounty4371-2-10.jpg

On the quest for the 437, we ran across another one that I couldn't pass up.
http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/ss231/RoadWolf/WolfbranchRdFL.jpg

Then it was on to Y2k king's pad. Even in FL, the temp drops noticeably after sundown :whistling:.
This pic was taken the next morning, but this open garage was the view that greeted us upon arrival.
Truly a welcome sight.
http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/ss231/RoadWolf/RedlegnY2kking.jpg

Once inside we were treated to true Doof hospitality!
Y2k king cooked up some mighty fine chicken gumbo.
He said it would have been better with more notice, but I'm not sure how it could have been.
Redleg's didn't last long.

Panama Jack is one fine dog! He's also a pretty good alarm clock.
He can get you up in the mornin' with a smile on your face -- Just sayin.
We bonded. It's a Wolf thang, y'all wouldn't understand.
http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/ss231/RoadWolf/RoadWolfandPanamaJack.jpg

Y2k king's Doof Wall. This was great hospitality!
Todd -- Thanks for the warm welcome, the HOT Gumbo, and a great time.
Great to meet you!

One the way home I discovered the Redleg is not actually in the ARMY.
He's really an Undercover Ninja Astronaut. No kidding.
http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/ss231/RoadWolf/NinjaAstronaut.jpg

It was bit brisk at times. But overall, a Doofishly good New Year Run.
Thanks for calling Redleg!

Nope, I said you can't hear anything up stairs from down stairs.

i didn't want to say anything about the snorin...but wow!!!:yikes:

And the last Dixie Doof is home with a few new pictures once I get thawed out and the house warmed up.

After a great dinner at Little Cuba restaurant last night, this morning was for running some errands in Atlanta and heading home.

Started out the morning by going to Cycle Gear and getting a working pair of heated gloves (success!) but also found out that FirstGear had shipped a defective batch so the replacements might not be permanent (ominous foreshadowing here... :coffee:)

From there, I figured out a great way to freak out Suburban Atlanta housewives: Go to the American Girl store in Alpharetta in your winter riding kit to shop for your daughter's birthday! :evillaff:

Headed toward 75 to go north, with the intent of seeing how it would go. By the time I got to Cartersville, I knew it wasn't going to work. Too much crosswind/headwind and too cold for superslab speeds. So, I took the "back way" through Rome, GA where I spent 4 great years at a little school in the hills...

This is the administration building at the end of the main drive...

After finishing buzzing the old alma mater, I headed W/NW toward Ft. Payne, home of 4 local boys who took over country music in the 80's

Riding up Sand Mountain, I noticed my right hand was significantly warmer than the left. Uh-oh :wtf2: :badmood: Will be going to my local Cycle Gear tomorrow...

Unhappy, cold, and ready to be home I rode into Section, AL, a little town just above the Tennessee River. The road sign at the crossroad brightened my mood just a bit - Jackson County Alabama Road 43.

Have been through this speck of a town soooo many times since 1989 and never noticed it until today. Too bad termites are there

And finally, home. The air temp reads 7-10 degrees high. Was closer to 22 than 32. Here's my tripmeter and add 1,000 miles to get the final total...

This trip started with a text to RoadWolf last week to find out if he had anything going on over New Year's and, as we've done in the past, just kinda built up into a heck of a fun weekend!
