I hate freakin' rebates...

i bought a couple of micro Sd cards & a Flash drive from Buy.com...works out almost free with rebates...
the rebate form for the Flash drive says ''email confirmation is ok to use a receipt"..."must have part #" -NO PART #

form for SD cards says "email confirmation not accepted" -WTF!

so i email cust. svs. yesterday...explain everything...
what answer did i get?
"your order should arrive soon"

Inform the credit card company that the item was "not as advertised". This will start the chargeback procedure and the company can then send you a true reciept or pound sand.

I always assume that I will never get the rebate. If I'm not happy with the before rebate price I don't buy it. The rebate companies get their profit from making the process difficult.

Generally they are right, although I would think that its greater than half that don't apply or forget that they did.

I built my last desktop computer from parts from Fry's Electronics. I think all the major components had rebates, and I kept copies of all documentation. It was ~ $240 worth of rebates IIRC,... motherboard, processors, memory, video card, harddrive, DVD writer, etc, all had rebates.

I kept waiting and waiting and no rebates showed up. Deadline passed for them to send it. I called them to complain, and all of a sudden they all show up at once a week later. I guess they also figure that some people that applied for the rebates will also forget about them over the 90 days....

Ya I missed out on the cell phone rebate by a week. I wasn't sure if I was gonna keep it. Why don't they just take it off the damn bill.

I just give my rebates to one of my sons. They seem to appreciate it and if I keep it, it will wind up not being sent in.
