I'm thinking of lowering the Classic, and saw these (http://cgi.ebay.ca/Electra-Glide-lowering-kit-Adjustable-2002-2009-Slam-/140397302249?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20b054d1e9) on Ebay. Are they any good? Pros and cons? I have no experience with them, but it does seem like a cheap alternative to new shocks. Input, please.

It would appear that it allows you to lower your bike without reducing shock travel. That's a good thing for comfort.

I have no specifics, but I haven't heard anybody singing the praises of this type kit over shocks.
Give it a bit, somebody will pipe up.
And have you tried the new lower seat they're using from the factory now?
Should be some takeoffs available cheap by now...

I've never really been in favour of messing with a bikes geometry too much like wild raking and such and i've heard and read mixed opinions on these kind of kits as i had a looksee when i wanted to lower my bike.
Since the factory shocks are junk anyway i opted for a decent set of lowered shocks (iirc the cost of a simmilar kit here was over $150), but for the price on those ebay kits i'd give it a try.

They narrowed the front and I think you sit an inch or so lower?
There's a notice somewhere...

Lowering kits similar to those shock relocation thingys caused all sorts of handling issues with Dyna's and Sporty's...I think I'd avoid them. Ya gotta be really careful lowering yer bike anyway...things drag WAY easier and can be dangerous!

Pretty much what i was told John so i opted for new 1 inch lower shocks as that was the best compromise for handling and looks.

Iy know someone that went down because he of dragging his pipes, as he put it the balance was off in the handling too. I have also been told by some that it is wise to lower the front and rear an equal % when you do it to maintain the correct "trail" (angle) up front.

I was planning on lowering the front as well, but the factory lower shocks are well over $600 up here, and I'm a cheap bastage..... :DD
I'm going to look into the seat that Mega mentioned.... 1" lower would be perfect.

here's a lnky Stoney.
If you stick to no more than ONE inch then you don't need to drop the front.

I have the new style seat on the Limited...I not exactly tall...and a 30" inseam and so far its been fine.
I would leave the geometry on the bike as it is and change the seat.

I went to the HD website and they don't recognize the part number for the low seat... guess I need to make some phone calls to see what it's worth. :badmood:

Call Jenni.
The seat is a part, not an accessory, so the website wouldn't have it, I don't think.
