After reading Evil Twin's tale of misery concerning the ordering of his white ACC helmet ....I figured if I wanted to be wearing one of these this year I'd better get busy and order up...or end up waiting.

So Monday 4pm I ordered a BlackCandy DOT.
It was at the house Thursday afternoon.

Dang...that was fast!!!!!
...and a great fittin' helmet, too!

And the answer is NO.
It doesn't make my a$$ look fat!

My Bell1/2 helmet feels like a satellite dish compared to this.
No head wobble...stays very well put.
I'm tellin'you...you're not gonna believe the difference!

Hey davukmer, could you post a better pic of what the candy black looks like? I looked at their site but it's hard to tell. I prefer flat black but I don't like the idea of it being 'textured' so I was thinking either the candy or just gloss black.

On their website...click on DOT helmets...the guy at the top & the girl(3rd one down) have the black candy on...
You really can't tell from a distance...up close you can see the carbon fiber through the gel coat...

I felt like I was a bobble headed doll and looked like a mushroom with my other DOT half helm. I ordered my Black Candy ACC helm unfortunatly during the peek time last year so it took awhile to get to me but I have to say its the best fit and looking helm out there !
Order early !!!!
Side note they used to offer a quick disconnect when I first ordered mine, it was shipped without so I called and the said some people had problems undoing the clasp but the sent mine seperatly . Easy install and really nice

Just received my gloss black one. Wow, what an amazing light helmet! Took a little over two weeks to get it, they didn't have any in stock but it must be a good time to order right now. Can't wait to see how it is when riding. I wish mine didn't have the quick connect installed, I forgot to tell them not to do it. I really don't like those, I'm faster getting it on and off the old way.

I ordered mine last week. Hopefully it doesn't take the 4-5 weeks they said. I ordered their new l/XL sized DOT. Guess that takes alot of carbon fiber to cover this melon....

They sent me 4 helmets trying to fit my melon... never could... apparently I have a flat spot off to one side that makes the helmet rotate to 1:00.

Shims had no effect.

You need a melon adjustment then....I have a BFH (Big Fu#king Hammer) if you need it...

Do you have trouble with other helmets as well?

I think you only see it on the thinner lids... the big ones have too much of a margin in the mushroom effect.

I'm thinking that flat spot was supposed to house my cell phone capabilities...

They told me to keep one of the helmets. I took the foam liner out and rotated it in the shell and glued it back in with construction adhesive... modified the shell outline... it fits straight now but the straps are not even (left to right)... ended up getting it for free though.

Now I understand why you ride with your head cocked to one side.

I thought you were attempting to reduce drag...

Black candy shows the carbon fiber fabric. Black looks more like Beauty.

You may need a new monitor... course there is a color selection there as well...

The gloss black is really nice. I would have went flat black but I didn't like the texture. I wasn't much for the carbon fiber look.

I sent an email to Erin (their customer support person), indicating that I forgot to ask about the 10% VTF discount when I originally ordered the helmet. She credited my card the 10% without any questions. It's nice to find companies with excellent customer service.

So, if you order one, make sure to ask for the 10%!!!!

My wife and I have the natural black carbon, they fit well and look good. I rode with MynameisDoug on Saturday and he has the blue carbon. It looks great. I might get one just because the color is great and it will match the Blue Bomber. I wonder if they will weave a red carbon 7 into it?

Their non-DOT helmets pass every DOT test except the puncture test. The puncture test consists of driving a pointed rod through the helmet. The rod can only penetrate XXX inches into the foam to pass the DOT test. None of the outer shells stop the rod. The way companies get their lids to pass this test is to add a thickness of foam that is greater than the XXX inches required by DOT.

I ride with the non-DOT.
