George R. Brown Convention Center is located on the east side of downtown. The original Mama Ninfa's on Navigation is excellent for TexMex(http://www.mamaninfas.com). They've been there since 1973. Its not too far from the convention center, but not within walking distance. I've heard Cabos (http://www.cabomixmex.com) on Travis St. is good but haven't been there.

There are a bunch of new places downtown I just haven't been to them. I wish I could help more but I really don't get downtown that much anymore.

Is he staying downtown? Transportation?

Staying at the hotel there at the convention center.
He'll have a 3/4 ton pickup and a big ass trailer.

Should fit right in. There are more pickup trucks than cars around here.

Let me check tomorrow with a friend who works downtown on the new eats places.... He shouldn't miss Mama Ninfa's though. Its excellent Tex Mex.

Need to find you some Texas barbeque someplace 'round there too.
