With the recent death of our friend and brother Mongoose, I have offered to take care of getting "In Memory" patches made and to offer them to the membership. I have two samples for your perusal.... Let me know which one is preferred, and I'll place the order to get them rolling. The sample shown is for Red Rider, and the dates are made up, just to get a sample made. At this time, I will be getting patches for Red Rider and Mongoose. Should we make a patch for Fire 46 as well? I know that some were made for him on another forum, but I can get them made if required.
Have a look at the samples below and let me know what y'all think. Any suggestions are welcomed.I would like to place the order by the end of the week.

Oh yeah, all money collected will go to the RIP fund. :DD

- Yes, there needs to be one for Scott.

- Of those two designs, I prefer #1.

- That said, do we want to traditional GBNF patches like this, or do we want to do something different? I was kind of thinking of something smaller and more personal....Something like a Grateful Dead-themed patch for Tony, something similarly personal for Mike and Scott.

- Mega made the point in Indy that we're not exactly a group of youngsters, so it might be prudent to keep the size of the patches down.

Just throwing that out there.

I agree. I like #1, but think smaller is better.

I think that the smallest we can go with the current configuration is 1.5" x 3". We could go smaller if we had something like "In memory of Mongoose", with nothing else added. I'm also trying to keep the costs down somewhat.

1.5 x 3 sounds good.

I like #1 as well. It puts more emphasis on the name. I also agree with the 1.5" x 3" size. And that we should have one for Fire 46.

Would it save any money or space to have "GBNF" in place of "In Memory Of"? Either way is good.

Thanks for doing this, Stoney. I was wondering about these just the other day.

Good thinking Cindy.

And yes, thanks Stoney for doing this.

Maybe just a smaller one with their names on them????

BigTOE

Of the two I like the first one better. I also think that smaller is better. I would really rather have it say just GBNF Red Rider or perhaps something like:

GBNF
Mongoose
Greatful Doof

I'm in for whatever it turns out to be and thanks so much Stoney for taking care of this.

How about a small patch that says GBNF or in memory of and then a smaller patch under them for each person.

Here's the latest proofs, in 1.5" x 3" size..... what say ye?

I like those. I like having both their road name and their real name, too.

Is it customary to have the dates on the patches? Seems like that gives more opportunity for errors if someone happens to get a date wrong.

I'm just asking. I think they look good though.

I like the patch design and would be down for one of each of the final version that is chosen.

Of the two, my choice would be #1. Traditionally the patches have only the "Road Name" of the individual. They usually have the 'born' and 'departed' dates as well, along with "GBNF" and/or "In Memory OF". Anything additional is usually optional. Here is a pic of the one done for my late brother by his MC, it is 2"x3 3/4"

I'd actually like a combo of 1 and 3. We know Redrider as Mike already. I'd put 'In memory of' on top, next line would be 'Redrider', third would be GBNF and the last line would be the dates.

First of all, stoney, thanks for taking this on.

It's greatly appreciated.

I like #3.

A few suggestions, tho.

Make the top and bottom lines the same font size, like match line three with line one.

Also, maybe make the screen name (line two) one font size or so smaller. I think it crowds the border just a bit in it's current config.

The bold font for line two works well.

With these slight tweakages, I think the overall patch design will balance better.

All in all, good job!

:woohoo:
