If you've made the unintelligent decision to join our ranks, or commit to friend or foe of the Doof... or just hang around... you may state your intentions here.
Procedures (like that matters):
First off, learn to say it right. Doof Clenas (Clēnas). Long "e". There.
Now....
13c. Introduce yourself in the "My Story, the Beginning... (http://www.doofclenas.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2)" Forum!
1. State (in a reply to this thread you're reading right now) your intent (Prospect, Hangaround, Friend or Foe) pick only one.
4. State (in a reply to this thread you're reading right now) your intended moniker (http://www.doofclenas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153202) (asshat, cat collector, Gazinta squad, etc.). This must be different than your username on the forum.
Trust me when I say that you want to choose this yourself instead of letting us do it.
j.) You may "reply to this thread you're reading right now" by clicking on this here button: http://www.doofclenas.com/forums/images/buttons/reply.gif (http://www.doofclenas.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=2656)
5. If you have selected Prospect, you must add "Doof" or "43" in some way to your Avatar OR Custom User Title OR Signature.... NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Note: This applies only here and at VTF. Optional at any other forum.
3. If you have selected Prospect, we may decide to ask a Doof member who lives within striking distance to Sponsor you... good luck... we mostly don't want to be bothered.
6a. 2: A proper introduction in the My Story, the Beginning... (http://www.doofclenas.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2) area could either help or hurt you, but is nevertheless strongly suggested.
11. Once a Sponsor has volunteered to take your sorry ass on, you must do the following: Ride to a state or county highway 43 (preferably in the company of at least your Sponsor, but this is not strictly required)... any state, any highway 43... and take a photo of your bike with the highway 43 sign. Post it in the appropriate thread. No highway 43 nearby... not our problem.
Note: Hooking you up with a Sponsor may take up to 72 hours, as we will try to find someone local to you. If you already know someone you would like to be your sponsor, let us know.
Important - Don't Screw Up This Next One:
43A. Once you have completed your 43 ride, YOU MUST UPLOAD YOUR QUALIFYING PIC TO THIS OTHER THREAD (http://www.doofclenas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3558) with your name, date of ride, and any supporting pics.
A qualifying pic looks like this: (Bike & Sign)
http://www.doofclenas.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15074&stc=1&d=1228001636
7. Once ALL above is complete, you have shown yourself to have the proper Doof mettle... you will be put up for a vote among the bretheren for full membership.
C1. There will be a ceremony involving corks and bandaids to celebrate your initiation into the society of Doof. This rite is performed by one or more Doof Babes. Cork removal will be your responsibility.
9. Members may display their "43" timing covers on their scoot... duct taping is no longer permitted... super glue is still okay.
Welcome and may you never be the same... or not, depending on your present state of mind.
Thanks for your cooperation.

FireDawgStew, with this, we end an era.
Yours will be, for the forseeable future, the last name entered on the Roster under Hangarounds.
With the opening of this dedicated Doof Clena Forum, we will consider all who register here to be hangarounds, since, you know, we're here and they're hanging around. Duh.
Anyway, welcome, and although you appear to be a little too familiar w/ Gray for your own good, I won't hold that against you. Others may, however.
Oh, and we'll get the first post in this thread updated to reflect the change eventually. We think. Maybe Mike'll do it.

dynageno, offered to sponsor me if I were to sign up to be a Prospect. Giving serious consideration to this, but that whole thing about taking a picture by a state highway 43 sign is a bit of a challenge it seems.
The closest one that I'm sure of is over in Bakersfield, CA. That's a 500 plus mile ride for me, each way. Not that I wouldn't mind doing it, but it's a bit of a challenge to work into the schedule with 2 young boys, one of whom is pretty active in sports.
So are there any AZ doofs? If so, where did you find a highway 43?

First off I'd like to thank Megaglide, Duhast, Cruzer and Homesick for helping me find the strength to face my inner demons and accept the fact that I was born a Doof wannabe and now I can put down my latte, acknowledge the innate beauty of this lifestyle and hopefully join the ranks of the Doofs.
This actually started back in mid 2006 when I was new to the VTF and I saw these posts from people claiming to know the true nature of power and how to wrench more from their bikes. They were the followers of the esoteric ways of Doof Clena. I am a simple caveman and had no idea what they were talking about so I went back to re-jetting my carbs. But I laughed everytime I read something from one of the Doofs. Especially that Lady Godiva. :boobies: Hubba Hubba!
So fast forward to the present (yes I hear you, "Shut up CJ. Yer not even a prospect yet and yer already boring me!" I'll take care of the application here in a minute).
I leave my home, my family and find myself thousands of miles from home courtesy of Uncle Sam and the US Air Force unable to keep in touch with my friends of the VTF. But eventually I return online only to find the grim signs of ethnic cleansing in my own virtual world. :badmood: I find posts from people decrying that most humble and jocular of tribes - The Doof Clena. But then when all seemed darkest I find a few brave souls who show me the way to true wisdom, horsepower and brotherhood "www.doofclenas.com".
Okay, my buzz is just about gone. Standby while I break out the scotch.
1. State your intent (Prospect, Hangaround, Friend or Foe) pick only one.
- Prospect. (Thank you sir... may I have another!!!)
4. State you intended moniker (asshat, cat collector, Gazinta squad, etc.)
- I am Maximus Doofus Meridius, commander of the Doofs of the North, General of the Felix Doofs, follower of the true motorcycle brotherhood Marcus Doofus Aurealius, friend of a badgered poster and brother to an oppressed tribe. And I will have my vengance in this thread or the next! But if that's too long CptCeeJay will do.
5. If you have selected Prospect, you must add "Doof" or "43" in some way to your Avator OR Avatar Line OR Signature Line.... NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
- Duh
3. If you have selected Prospect, the exalted one may decide to ask a Doof member in good standing to Sponsor you... good luck... we mostly don't want to be bothered.
- Megaglide? DuHast? Cruzer? Homesick? Anybody? Help?!
11. Once a Sponsor has volunteered to take your sorry ass on, you must do the following: Ride to a state highway 43... any state, any highway 43... and take a photo of your bike with the highway 43 sign. Post it in the appropriate thread. No state highway 43 nearby... not our problem.
- You bastards. I'm Freakin' 5,000 miles away from my bike!!! I don't even know if Alaska has 43 roads in it. But fear not. I will damn well not be bested by the likes of you! I will find a way and I will do it better than anyone else has before! Or I'll photoshop it...

Well, you've indicated your desire to prospect for membership in the Doof Clenas, chuck.
Stop by the "My Story, the Beginning" area and let us get to know you a bit and you'll probably have a sponsor in no time!
Anybody who'd jump right in like this certainly seems to have what it takes. :D

After much self-reflection (in front of the mirror wearing chaps), I have decided to state my intention to Prospect. At present, I'm undecided as to my moniker. Some I'm considering (not necessarily in order) are...
1. "The Enchanter" ...Those familiar with the Quest may note that this flows well with my signature, but there is a drawback. I know nothing of prestidigitation and certainly do not want to be labeled a poser by THAT crowd. If anyone could make you disappear, it would be that Copperfield guy. Is he a member?
6. "Sweathog" ...even though the "K" in my screen name is for my scoot (firetronix01 was closer).
F. "Chrome Killer"
F.a) "Extractor"
3, no 5. "Intinidator" ...While the DC's were founded on a similar slip of the finger, this one may not sit well with the NASCAR crowd..
Any help? Oh yeah, if it pleases the court, I'll be needing a sponsor.
PS I don't have chaps

If you've made the unintelligent decision to join our ranks, or commit to friend or foe of the doof... or just hang around... you may state your intentions here.
Procedures (like that matters):
1. State your intent (Prospect, Hangaround, Friend or Foe) pick only one.
4. State you intended moniker (asshat, cat collector, Gazinta squad, etc.)
5. If you have selected Prospect, you must add "Doof" or "43" in some way to your Avator OR Avatar Line OR Signature Line.... NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Note: This applies only here and at VTF. Optional at any other forum.
3. If you have selected Prospect, the exalted one may decide to ask a Doof member in good standing to Sponsor you... good luck... we mostly don't want to be bothered.
11. Once a Sponsor has volunteered to take your sorry ass on, you must do the following: Ride to a state highway 43... any state, any highway 43... and take a photo of your bike with the highway 43 sign. Post it in the appropriate thread. No state highway 43 nearby... not our problem.
7. Once the above is complete, you have shown yourself to have the proper Doof mettle... you will be put up for a vote among the bretheren for full membership.
I intend to prospect.

I will go and find me this Hwy 43 soon, I have found one about 100 miles out, so that shouldn't be too bad.

Josh, you might have taken on a pretty heavy load for your first Prospect. He!!, he doesn't even know what month it is. You might have to use some kind of cement block carrying "Your military left" type training aids with this one.
just sayin...
we have ways of making people learn

So I'm sitting here, listening to some Johnny Cash and watching my coworkers play World of Warcraft (I can't stand that game), and for whatever reasons I am now compelled to declare myself a 'Prospect' for the fraternal order of the not so honorable Doof. My moniker would be then as it is now, Psychoholic (get to know me, you'll understand).
Y2K King has agreed to sponsor me (I would like to pre-apologize for the misery that he will now have to endure and unfortunately may question the cut-out of his character after agreeing to such a task).
I will go and find me this Hwy 43 soon, I have found one about 100 miles out, so that shouldn't be too bad.
You have been warned.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
as my first prospect i'll be strict, but fair. i learned this from my mentor...geno:bowdown:

Well, darlin', you don't have to prospect to be a Doof Babe, y'all get a pass on all that stuff because you smell good.
Uh, unless you're a guy who wants "Doof Babe" as your moniker, in which case you may be the first person ever turned down for membership.
Do go on... :s_e_grin:

04-05-2007, 10:22 AM
I am stating my intention to become a DOOF PROSPECT. When I was a construction worker, my nickname was Chromer (because I welded Chrome pipe). So..I think it Chromer would be a fitting DOOF moniker for me.
While not officially a DOOF.. I think I have demonstrated many DOOF type behaviors that would qualify me for consideration to full and official DOOFDOM.
For example:
What person in their right mind would coast an 800# motorcycle to the bottom of an icy driveway with no plan to get it back into their garage??
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/Chromer/12-1.jpg
What person would be so unaware to not notice that a Manta Ray had attacked his horse and continue riding??
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/Chromer/10.jpg
What person requires a talking dog co-pilot that provides directions home and calls me a cab when too drunk to drive??
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/Chromer/06.jpg
(if its not asking too much
Id like Jack the Wonder Dog to be considered for a Junior Cannine membership)
I think Ive got the mettle to join DOOF society..8-Ball will you be our sponsir?

Most consider me a dolt, hope it won't be too much of a stretch to become a doof.
1. State your intent (Prospect, Hangaround, Friend or Foe) pick only one.
Prospect
4. State you intended moniker (asshat, cat collector, Gazinta squad, etc.)
Dolt
5. If you have selected Prospect, you must add "Doof" or "43" in some way to your Avator OR Avatar Line OR Signature Line.... NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Note: This applies only here and at VTF. Optional at any other forum.
Does Doof Wannabe qualify?
