looking at a tourpack lid organizer (http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444876915 8&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309043324&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309043324&bmUID=1177527828289&bmLocale=en_US) on the H-D sight. Anyone here have it or similar can tell my why it says:

Fits models equipped with Leather or Synthetic Leather Tour-PakŪ Luggage (except 79189-06). Does not fit with Tour-PakŪ Luggage Racks, Interior Light Kits or Lock Kits.

will it not mount if you have the luggage rack or something?

You're looking at the one for the leather tour pak.
The ones for the hard packs work fine w/ the rack.
Here's what you want http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444198847 1&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302286957&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302286957&bmUID=1177528559301&bmLocale=en_US

nope, not gonna do it. wouldn't be prudent! what your feeling isn't conflict in me its gas. :roflback:

by the way, just got the tourpack lid organizer and a Decker Dakota bag for $268 free shipping, off ebay, both new from same seller. Not to bad I dont think. Would have been around $290 + tax and or shipping had I gotten the organizer from HD and the bag from Dekker...(who was out of it now... geesh they make 'em how can they be out?)

It's not exactly a secret, your whole neighborhood knows.

BTW, instead of using their adhesive backing, I put mine on w/ industrial strength Velcro.

Hey the velcros a good idea. Normally I'd just get that locally, maybe even at my local Hobby Lobby... but judging by past experience of the guys here it might be worth a road trip to the Hobby Lobby in SA and a visit with Lurleen... draw on her experience with sticky subjects and all. Hey Al, BigAl, think if I get some industrial strength velcro my tour pack organizer might just BLOW THE F*CK OFF when I'm least expecting it someday?

the inside dimensions of the new nylon tourpaks('06+) are just a hair smaller than the fiberglass...
unless H-D changed the size, it didn't fit right...

I had bought one for my son-in-laws '03, and tried it in mine, and it wasn't a good fit...

if you have the rack...drill the holes in the organizer...and put the washers/nuts on after you mount it and they will also help hold it to the lid along with the tape...

i bought & like the wall organizer...and thanks to Mega's idea...threw the plastic tabs with velcro away...and just let the velcro that's already attached to it hold it to the tour-pak liner

Let me warn you Les...that Lurleene is one fetching woman.....the knee high support hose just bring the whole package together.......

so your saying the back of the tourpack lid organizer is some type of a plastic material that I can drill holes in to match the tour pack luggage rack I have and that will help hold it in place, make it fit better?

hope it fits ok in my -'06 pack we shall see I guess :coffee:

So my Ultra came with a luggage bag that fits inside the tour pak. Sometimes I put 2 helmets inside the tour pak. I also have the little light stuck on the inside roof.

Does this organizer take up too much room? I'm thinking I don't need a couple more little pockets if it takes up 2 inches of height inside my tour pak?

Takes up less than 1/4" empty, full, well, as much as you stuff in it...

says it doesn't work with Tour-PakŪ Light P/N 54302-98A, if thats the light you have... but I'm sure that could be worked around with enough industrial strength glue or some industrial velcro. I am pretty sure Al, BigAl can get you a deal on some ... I hear he has something going on with a support hose model over at his local Hobby Lobby.

yea BigAl was quite taken by her as well. I believe the exact word he used was "fetching" just a few posts up. I think I heard him mention something about her rolling over and playing dead as well in CC. :roflback: :roflback:

finally got my stuff in and got a chance to install the organizer today... went ahead and got some industrial strength Velcro, to use in conjunction with the included 3M tape it came with, plus bolted it up using the luggage rack bolts. Had to find two longer ones for the front edge... the contour of the lid in combo with where the bolts were, couldn't get organizer to flex enough to get the short bolts to work, had to use longer ones and then pull it up tight.

Finally got a place to organize my sunblock, sunglasses, and rain goggles :D

Rock what year is your bike/tourpack? your organizer fits in your lid completely.. mine hits edges all the way around... work fine that way just wondered... someone mentioned the older fiberglass tourpacks were a little bigger is why I wondered the year.

and yes rain goggles... thems my favorites Al, thats BigAl was thoughtful... (is that the right sentiment?) enough to buy them for me.

Yeah I don't think your tour pak is smaller than mine. Pretty sure you got more organizer for your money than I did.

and you know this because??? no not really I don't want to know lol

no TP in there for around town... but there will be by the time I leave for Austin. By the way, not gonna try the trailer this time around for sure. Got a Dekker Dakota T-Bag. That thing is BIG. Going to have plenty of room for a 4 or 5 day trip using it.

When I use helmets, and want to store them in the back, I think this organizer would steal a precious 2" of space I need to allow me to close it up and lock my helmets.

It does, I got my Bell Mag 8's from the nice UPS man today, put in my headsets and set off for my ladies house to play with the intercom and stuff, had to reorganize my organizer... it all fits but not loaded the way I had originally and not the way I wish it would

Yeah, I just got the big T-bag too. I love the 2 insulated water bottle holders. Gonna break it in on the 2007 Doof a Palooza trip...
