Dirty Dan

Thanks, I like the thing.

With respect to castration...I have to do something with the pipes. I was told when I bought it that it was stock. But the mufflers, if stock, had the baffles punched out. I think it sounds crappy and don't like it one bit.

So the dealer is picking it up next week for a look and we'll figure something out from there. I just saw a Street Glide yesterday at the dealer with Rinehart True Duals and it looked terrific. I didn't get a chance to hear it run though. But ANYTHING has to sound better than what I've got now.

As for the faux pipe....maybe Rock has some left over spray paint I can borrow.:whistling:

Actually Rock has a nice setup. And I agree with him...I like the faux pipe look better than the amputated look. I think his bike looks great.

But if a 2-1 set up sounds like what I have now...no way, Jose.

Picking pipes is like picking women----It is extremely subjective.

I would take a hard look at the Rineharts if I were starting over but I had V&H
ovals before I went to true duals so I used V&H dual headers rather than pay the piper again. I know the true duals are not as good performance wise as a set up like Rock runs but Momma is sure glad to be rid of the heat on her right leg so I will live with the trade off.

Yes I am whipped but what do you expect after 42 years of married bliss.

Now don't encourage Rock by giving him any more compliments.:whistling:

Here's mine from yesterday down by the Ohio river.
Naturally, you can't see the river, just a nasty gravel parking lot, but, hey, that's the side where the lighting was best and I didn't want to go to Kentucky just to be able to get the river and good lighting. That would have been too Doofy even for me.

Yeah. How do you determine which one you ride. Both are for touring purposes. Length of trip, how much stuff you have to carry?

Today, I'd say the Ultra. That's because she's my hot rod.

I dropped the SG off at the dealer today for the stage I upgrades and a dyno tune. I'm sure she still won't be able to touch Godzilla, but she also will no longer sound like a Harley sewing machine.

You pretty much nailed it Rock. I took the two-up seat off the SG and put on a Corbin Classic Solo. She will be my "run around town" bike. Or when the wife doesn't ride.

I plan to ride Godzilla to CO. More stowage space and alot more comfortable for the wife on the back.

nice pics, hag.... what is the story with that windshield...

Thanks for the compliments. The windshield is made by Cee Bailey's and is called the super step contour. It does a fantastic job of redirecting and smoothing the air-flow over your head...dramatically reducing turbulence behind the fairing. Unless I have a strong crosswind, I can wear a ball cap facing forward with this windshield...not something I was previously able to do.

I also like that it follows the line off the front of the fairing. I learned about it last summer over on hdforums.com from another member.

Sold them for $575 on ebay and bought the Custom bags for $375. :) I got the Custom bags cheap because one of the bags had a broken latch that took my 30 minutes, a piece of metal, and a pop rivet to fix.

The only thing I HATED about the Classic bags was the basket weave insert.

Dammit....

I don't mind the basket weave... would rather not have it, but they seem to hold a lot more than the custom bags and that big metal bracket isn't in the way...

Scratches... well... its a long story...

The other thing you have to be careful about the Classic bags is scratch marks. Make sure that you don't let the straps flap down against the bag when you close them and don't scratch them with your fingernails when you unlatch the buckles. I was always yelling at the wife about scratching the bags.

You get to pay for duals which will make it run crappy, then you get to pay for a dyno which will make it run - barely(compared to the 2in1)
Save your pipes and the map, you may want them again.

It's obvious that the the 2-1 setup, with the correct map, will give your bagger a slight improvement over a Stage 1 system. But baggers just don't look right with only 1 pipe. True duals? Fuhgedaboutit. If the MOCO thought your bike would run better w/o the crossover pipe, it wouldn't be there.

I think baggers are the best place for 1 pipe. You don't notice it as much with the bags. I do agree, if the Moco though TDs were better, they would have put them on.

My Ultra has 2-1, I wanted as much power without opening engine. My Road King, still has slip ons. Money being a big part. I do like the sound too.

I do like how easy 2-1 goes on and off. I really like that you don't have to take heat sheild off, and looks good with continuous het sheild.

They know enough to sell 300,000+ bikes a year. The funny thing is, when I have rented 100% stock touring bikes (Electra Glides and Road Glides) they run just fine. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

I'll agree with that... its just that other stock bikes (victory's for example) run like bats outta hell... I'm not sayin' HD aren't good marketers, they are savants, but they have lost sight of what a bike is it seems to me...

Interesting comments. I traded a 1800cc ***** VTX for my first Harley. The ***** was a great running. fast bike, as it came from the factory, but it just didn't have the "soul" of a Harley. (plus I got tired of hearing "how come you didn't get a Harley?). As for the Victory's, they look great from 10' away, but when you look at them closely, they don't compare to a Harley.

I don't like the jugs on the victory, but I like the way they run...

I also like a Timken

I also like gear driven cams

I also like decent suspension

I also like decent brakes

I also like a decent seat

I also like to have enough engine to get out of trouble on the freeway and to do a bit of sportin'...

Yup. Did 700 mile days riding to the "Tail". Have ridden all through western NC and north GA. Also, did upstate NY, through the Adirondaks, and into New Hampshire and Canada on a 100% stock '06 Electra Glide. A few months ago I did 1100 miles in Nevada, CA, and AZ. Climbed mountains as high as 10,000' in the Sierra Nevadas, as well as long distances at 100MPH across the Nevada desert. All on a 28,000 mile bone stock, beat up, '07 Electra Glide. The bikes ran like charm.

ALso the damn lock for the tourpak was put in upside down, would never lock. Alot of pride there in there workmanship. That wasn't why it was in the shop though.

I know this is somewhat off topic and a tad late. It's always been a fact that you do give up power when going to Tru-Duals. Not so fast says my Dyno guy. He said that "2008's and their electronic throttle body, you can't dump too much fuel into them" and create the Rinehart stumble.

Hey..I don't know it it's true or not? But it's a great story ehh? Now the bad news, most of us don't have 2008's..
