My 99 rkc is leaking trans fluid but not from anywhere near the tranny. It is a small leak that seems to be dripping from under the cam cover. If fact i can feel it when I touch the cables which run under/attached to, the frame near the rear brake pedal connection. I am certian it is not oil so I use red syn. Any clues?
Get a can of Brake Clean and clean the bottom as clean as possible then take her for a short ride.
Use a mirror and a bright drop light and see if you can get a better idea where the leak is coming from.
The oil may be leaking forward when parked so it only seems to be leaking by the cam cover.

Have you ever replaced the tranny seals?

Sometimes, if there's a leak at the fitting where the clutch cable meets the transmission side cover, the fluid will follow the clutch cable down and under the cam cover.

I had a small leak of transmission fluid... turned out to be the shifter shaft seal. HD has completely redesigned the seal as of last fall.
Might be worth a look.

That's what happened to me at about 30,000 miles on the Low Rider. I went ahead and replaced all three then.
