And then you're going to need a nice leather leg holster, a pair of Tony Lama's and a ten gallon hat. :SD2

It’s a Colt 1873 SAA clone. I can’t afford a Colt. There are two Italian manufacturers that make most of the imported SAA’s, Uberti and Pietta. They make guns for importers such as Cimarron, Taylor and Company etc to their specifications. I did a ton of research and went with a Cimarron Frontier with a 5 1/2-inch barrel, model PP411. It’s made by Pietta. I spoke to or emailed several SAA specific gunsmiths before deciding. Pietta uses good metallurgy and at most they might need some deburring and lighter springs.

This from one smith,

“Cimarron F.A. I like the Frontier, "Pre-War" model. It's Pietta made and is a nice 1st Gen Colt copy. It has a real 1st Gen Colt beveled cylinder. The Pre-War model has the cross pin latch that holds the base pin in. This gun also has great balance in the hand. They have a wide notch rear sight and a squared front blade as well as a coil spring for the hand. I really like the quality of this gun as the internal parts are hardened properly, well made and fit nicely. Most of these guns DO NOT need action work as they come frome Italy tuned very nicely. The actions are a touch gritty, but the action is much lighter than most. My "Action clean up" ($50.00) on this model makes it very sweet. The bluing is deep and the case coloring is very attractive. If you are going to dry fire hundreds of times a week and shoot every week-end, expect to replace some parts from time to time. Have a set of SAA screw drivers. Clean, oil lightly and snug the screws regularly.”

.45 Colt ammo can be expensive, but I have a press and I’m loading 38 special and 45 acp already.

I did look and consider them. Didn't want to spend that much either.

Yes, there is the toy funding budget that holds us back.

Then there is some reason it's not on the approved list to purchase in the PRK.

Maybe it's classified as a Wild West Assault gun? More than a single shot...
