Fuel Moto Rushmore Air Cleaner Backing plate
Geeze...
Letter to Fuel Moto asking for guidance... The breather bolt heads appear to be a "normal" six sided nut. > Just received my "Rushmore" Air Cleaner backing plate. For the life of me I can't find the correct size socket to remove the breather bolts, 1/2" to 3/8" too big or too small, 13 mm - 10 mm same issue, (12 mm almost does it but is a tad too large and slips) I don't have a RTFM (Read The Fooking Manual) for my 2015, yet... I had the backing plate off of my 2011 FLHTC and IIRC those bolt heads were 7/16"? Maybe I have to convince my socket (7/16" Snap-on) and breather bolts to go together with some gentle tapping with a light hammer? Thank You for your time and support. < Sometimes my life just sux! |
Dug out an old S&K set of deep sockets I've had since around circa 1970, that 7/16" fit right on.
Guess it was just "loose" enough to fit. It's on! :woohoo::woohoo: |
Now one thing I wished, had hoped for, was that Fuel Moto had incorporated a bit of a stack on the inlet of this backing plate, to create some "stand off" to help with allowing the intake air flow to smooth out a bit and reduce the turbulence, before the throttle plate.

eleventy millimeter.

That was it! :woohoo:

So which plate did you choose? Normal or 2 big openings at the the bottom?
|
Didn't notice they had an option.
Still don't, but then maybe I'm clicking on the wrong Rushmore application? But yes, it does have the two huge openings on the bottom of the plate, sucking in hot air from the cylinder area? |
I do have an unused Fuel Moto air cleaner assembly, still in box, for my 2011 FLHTC, that I never got around to installing on that one. :whistling:
