Kimber Micro 9 question
K ren bought herself a sweet little Kimber Micro 9.
It has been misfiring once every magazine or 2. Pull the trigger, click, nothing. Manually eject the round, continue for a while with no issues. Primer has a small mark, but no dent... Reload same round into next magazine, and it fires no problem. Does not seem to matter what brand of ammo. I have heard that Kimbers need "a couple hundred rounds to stop fouling" whatever that means. but hers now has 300-ish through it. Is this something that might cure itself, would a supersonic cleaning help, (might be hogwash, but our club offers these) or should we seek professional gunsmith help? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps71ukirzk.jpg |
I'd try a new spring first. I've cured lots of Kimber hickups with new Wolff springs.

This is a Micro 9, not a 1911, I couldn't find a spring listed on their website for this gun.
Do you think a new recoil spring will cure a misfire mid-magazine? |
Sounds like a firing pin issue to me. call Kimber and let them know about it. They should fix it for free. I have to admit being a SIG type person. My SIG version of this has functioned flawlessly since new. I really liked this piece due to the deburring and rounding of all sharp edges. The only Kimber I liked enough to buy was their old Para P-14 .45. One of the sweetest shooting 1911 style weapons I ever fired.

It is going back to Kimber. I have read that Academy got a batch with the same problem.
She bought it at Academy. |
Kudos to Kimber...
They have it now, and they paid for the ride! Hopefully it won't take long to get it back....... |
:woohoo:
