The Jesse Stone series of movies is worth seeing.
It's still "guy with a gun fighting crime mostly alone using wits and guts as much as his gun."
They're a little formulaic I'll admit, but so is most every successful franchise of any kind.
Some of Tom Selleck's best work in my opinion.

I'm a huge Selleck fan. I met him back in the early '90s, and he's exactly as cool as you'd think he'd be. The Jesse Stone movies are really well done, and worthwhile watching.
