Computer question about lighting
I read that the computer can be flashed so the passing lights stay on with the high beams. The local dealer did it for me today, but now they only work on high beam. Is it one or the other, or did they goof?

They goofed.

That's a new one to me.
I don't even want to go around with the dealer over it. Had a real circus with Toyota to get my door locks programmed to lock all in gear and only unlock all when drivers door opened. They denied it could be done. I had to highlight the programming I wanted in my owners manual, the section where it said features that can be changed / programmed by dealer. Maybe it is in the owners manual on which way they can be programmed? Thanks, now I have some more reading to catch up on... |
The normal is for the passing lamps to go off when the high beam is engaged.
The program is to have them stay on with the high beams as well as the low beams. Has the tech been out of school more than two weeks? |
Toyota store thought I was full of shit, besides I'm an owner, so I'm just a lair and what do I know.
I still can't get the dealer to fix my EG's front brake vibration, I guess I will have to buy and replace the front rotors myself to fix the issue... They never heard of such a thing as pad to rotor material deposits causing a vibration... |

That sounds like an analog problem. Didn't you know that everything is digital now? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Yes, takes ten digits to repair mechanical thingys that the shop scanner can't repair.
I'm waiting for the scanner/ computer to check and fill up my washer fluid and "see" how dirty my engine air filter is. On another note, I'm ready to have a clean cabin filter on hand to swap out before I take car for repairs I can't handle at home, I always get a call, "we need to replace the cabin filter because it has debris on it", but I just changed it 5 K ago, "but it has debris on it, needs changing", you guys didn't seem to care much about the debris during the 25 thousand mile "free" services... "uhhh...":doh::doh::roflback: |
A quick re-flash solved the problem. Apparently, there are 3 choices. Only with low, only with high, or all the time.

Awesome! How much to juggle the computer to do that?
