Hill Country ride for the last weekend in September? (25, 26, 27)

That seems to be the only window that most folks have off.

The CheeseHeads will have a problem because David is having neck surgery in September. I don't know yet about Rod and Mongo.

Polar Bear is thinking about riding down.

I should be able to make it.

Ricky, Dan, anybody??????

BillyB 08-18-2015 02:42 PM

We might be able to pull off a long weekend on the 25th-27th. I'll talk to Taz.

Seriously Tentative...

Margarita 08-18-2015 06:17 PM

Seriously out of the question... but I sure wish.

At least you got the dates right. Thanks, Billy.

I'm pretty sure I'll be practicing for the competition on October 1st in Allen.

But interested still

Information updated in the first post.

Let them know you are with the Cloud Riders.

I think we will ride some different roads and maybe get a piece of pie if we are lucky.

Y'all come and bring somebody.

Right Across The Road From The Hotel

The hamlet known as Ingram, Texas, has a population less than 2,000, but do not let its small size fool you.

This laid-back town started with one manÃÔ vision and has been thriving ever since.

Back in 1879, J.C.W. Ingram bought six acres along the tranquil Guadalupe River, opened a general store and a post office and this quaint little village began.

Old Fort Ingram at the east end of the Loop hosts the historical marker validating Mr. IngramÃÔ venture.

Located deep in the Texas Hill Country, famous for its clean air, sparkling rivers and wildlife, Ingram is one of the best-kept secrets awaiting discovery by unsuspecting new visitors and return visits from folks that are already savvy to this peaceful expanse of serene beauty.

Just five miles west of Kerrville, off Highway 39, is the Old Ingram Loop. Once the main road through Ingram, this quarter-mile stretch of road harnesses history rich in cowboy folklore, right down to the ÅÐld Oak hangin tree located in front of the oldest building in Ingram on the west end of the Loop.

This building, supported with granite blocks that were shuttled in by covered wagon back in the 19th century, survived the flood of 1932. Although the flood nearly wiped out the Loop, it did not scare away tough Texans from rebuilding. Businesses and homes began to pop up all along the Loop, allowing the residents and merchants to enjoy this magnificent region once again.

Following the big flood, highway 39 was relocated to higher ground. The Loop, however, remained intact and slowly developed into an exciting shopping district and artist colony.

Around 10 a.m. on most mornings, doors can be heard opening by the merchants, ready to greet their visitors with friendly faces and unhurried conversation.

While time may seem to stand still on the Loop, the energy and activity is always in motion. Cypress Trees wave their featherlike branches on the breeze, the scenic Guadalupe River captivates the onlooker as it falls under the Indian Creek Road bridge, while skilled craftsman, artists and shopkeepers constantly impose new ideas that are both inviting and stimulating for shoppers. Visitors and locals alike, never tire of the unique and eclectic surroundings and rarely leave empty handed.

The Old Ingram Loop is easy to find. Just follow Junction Highway west out of Kerrville, bear left at the intersection of Highway 27 and 39, travel a very short distance and turn left. Bright yellow signage will catch your eye. If you miss the first turn, donÃÕ worry; there are three more entrances just after the first.

Once there, do yourself a favor, park your car or bike and get out and enjoy the walk. You will be able to see craftsmen and artists at work creating their next masterpiece.

Finished pieces are always ready for purchase. Retail shops offer a variety of excellent quality merchandise, including antiques, pottery, leather goods, furniture, copper, wood carvings and jewelry and so many other original choices, there are too many to list. You will just have to come and see for yourself!

One thing is for sure, no two shops or galleries are the same. Variety, distinction and quality create the unique atmosphere on the ÅÏew Old Ingram Loop.

INGRAM The end is in site for construction work along Texas 39 after four and a half years of traffic obstruction and frustration.

The West Kerr County Chamber of Commerce will help the community breathe a sigh of relief with a christening ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday in front of First Presbyterian Church, 101 Webb Ave., in Ingram.

Turbo Turtle 08-25-2015 12:59 AM

It might be too soon off a multi week adventure to attend, but don't count me out

More to come
