OK, getting in deep enough now that I think there are some tools I need to buy for the job. I know I'll need a dial indicator to check the crank runout. After seeing the cam plate, it looks like I'll need something to keep everything from spinning while I take loose the chain sprockets. I see George has the Cam Gear Locking Tool on his site, I assume this is what I need for this? Also, I'll need the oil pump alignment screws for getting the oil pump alignment correct. Anything else I'll need? Since I have it open, I am most likely going to do cams...you know, since I'm right there and all.

Thanks.

If your going to change the cams, might as well put in new torrington inner cam bearings. You'll need a tool for that too.

Yup. I'd let you use mine, but you have one of those new-fangled 96" mochines.

Yup.

Make damn sure you've got the installer "correctly" lined up during the install so you don't mess up the bearing ports. :whistling:

Don't forget tools pictured below and the B148's, I'm in the middle of exactly the same thing... The freezer and oven thing can work on the cams and a 7/16" wrench with a allen key thru the closed end will rotate the shoe arm back and a 7/64" allen key fits perfect to retain it, so you can avoid the tools but the B148's are needed.

Cheers,
Dirk

He has a 96", so there's no springs on the tensioners to mess with. There are lots of ways to avoid needing that press stand. I just used pieces of wood to support everything well, but the heated cam plate/frozen bearing approach works real well too.

Yep...I got some stuff I bought for my old airplane that I have no recollection of what they are or what they do or are used for, but I have them if I ever need them.

Tools ordered finally.

DPH will be so happy that she'll hit me repeatedly.
