Headlamp trim ring question
I had to remove the headlight to relocate my turn signals yesterday. I've taken it apart many times for new bars, etc, and no problems. This time, when I replace the trim ring, there's a lot of "slop" or gap on the right and left side. I aligned the retaining spring on top into the slot and put in the screw on the bottom. Normally, once I put it in the slot on top and pushed it would click and fit snugly over the headlamp. I checked to be sure the headlamp is firmed secured against the framing behind it so it isn't loose.
Any ideas doofdum????? :badmood: |

Perhaps the model of motorcycle would be beneficial in our answering...

Did you put the wire holder in correctly?

Pick a color, this will close the gap right up:

Thanks Fire! If you didn't sell me the fairing I wouldn't have had to take the damn thing off! :roflback: It's a Roadking Custom. Actually, I put new turn signals on it attached to the passing lamps and it looks pretty awesome! I'll take some pics and post. I'm sure I have the retaining clip in the notch on top as required but it isn't snapping in like it used to. I'll have to look at it tonight with better lighting. I ordered a new ring with built in visor. I'll see how that works out. Finally got some riding weather due this weekend!!!!!

My pleasure...yes we need pics.
On a serious note, check to make sure that the whole nacelle part is snapped together correctly. I unfortunately discovered that if you remove all 4 of the windshield mounting bolts at the same time AND you have the headlight apart, everything basically falls apart. I had a hell of a time getting everything to line back up again. I basically ended up with a gap on the whole front part where the two halves fit together. It's hard to explain, but if it isn't lining up right it should be obvious standing in front of the bike. |
I can't find a good picture, but maybe this will help. Look where the circle is under the headlight. When mine fell apart I had a gap there and that caused problems with my trim ring.

Bingo! There's my problem! Thanks Bro. Now, I just have to figure out how fit all that spaghetti in there so there's no gap.
Thanks again! Quote:
