Are Elite 3's still good?

Or is there a better choice, at 16,000 on my '14 Limited the OEM Dunlops are about dun.

Elite 3's fit the pre 2010 baggers?

They do make a close to "factory" replacement for the newer baggers. Used them on my 2011, worked quite well.

Called American Elites, IIRC

Yep, Dunlop AE's. Or Michelin Commander's. Or Avon Cobra's. I've used all 3 and personally like the Cobra's best. JMO.

Running my second set of E3's and love them. Currently on my 08 Streetglide.

I get plenty of miles on them, they don't make the bike "wander" when on roads where the asphalt has been scraped for resurfacing or grated bridges, and give me more confidence in turns.

I haven't tried a bunch of other tires other than stock (which I hate) but I like the E3.

Oh boy, I just love tire threads.

It appears that the E3s are being phased out in favor of the E4s. I can still find the rear in my size but not the front. It's a shame because the E3 rear lasted 4-6K more miles than anything else I've had on there. And the front is still going strong, albeit with a tube, after two separate nail holes.

Early reports are that the E4 does not have the same groovy performance on reground, metal, tar & chip and rain grooved surfaces and the front in particular tracks pretty badly.

How is the American Elite on those types of roads? I need a new rear

tire.

I put an American Elite on the rear, but I'm running the sidecar. I don't have enough miles on it yet to totally comment but we see a variety of road surfaces here and I haven't had any issues yet.
