Riding PTSD

So anyway we were riding from Red Lodge towards Cooke City, via the Beartooth highway this year.

That section of road that was all torn up when we held the West Coast DooFaplooza is still torn up, even worse than it was.

The last 200 yards of it was really loose dirt which brought on flashbacks of going to Granny's Gun Shop in Arkansas!

:yikes: :Hurt: :yikes:

The road has only been torn up for a few years. What's the big rush, hmm?

It was about tilled soft enough to put in some radishes and carrots.

Is it a Federal job?

Sleeveless noted yesterday the road widening project they are currently doing on Quantico Marine Corps Base is entering it's second year. They must be retiring on it, as any state project would have been done by now.

Define "State Project"...

Moonbeams super speed whiz bang train is not going anywhere yet, can't even ride it from LA to Fresno.

Sometimes I think someone looked at certain sites in Wyoming and said, "Hey, let's start a road here and see if it goes anywhere we want to be."

The construction on IH 35 and on Loop 363 is behind and traffic is a mess, so the City of Temple decided to repave Adams Ave.

I took a little ride yesterday and discovered that you cannot get into or out of Belton easily because there is construction on every single road.

Oh yeah. They are fixing to start on IH 14 which follows the route of 190 through both cities.

You have to wonder what were the planners thinking when they approve multiple Improvement Projects that all affect the same geographical area. Everything grinds to a halt, but they say just wait, its will get better...

When, is what we want to know. One of my current projects is a pipe repair in a neighborhood. Road closed
signs with a detour and no tresspassong/keep out signs conspicuously posted, yet they still walk through the area while the excavator is lifting materials overhead. Go ahead and call the cops they say, we'll be gone before they can get here.

"Gets better", means in four to six months they will dig up all those new roads to put in new storm drains, new sewer piping, new water piping or new, in ground, utility wires.

It will likely be the county or city utility crews who perform the work, and they won't have an inspector on site to verify compaction densities during the backfill. 2 months later there is a nice dip in the pavement where the trench repair sinks, and on your way to work in your clean clothes, you try to take a sip of your coffee and it splashes all over you. :whistling:
