87 FLTP.....the UGLY project
 

Just bought it today for $1,200.00, that's not bad for Socal. Engine is strong, frame is straight, comes with some replacement parts too. I'm happy and will soon be in the wind again.

Rising from the ashes.

Picking it up tonight...the plan is to pound out whats there (rat bike) and get it running and riding then figure out what direction to go.

Who was the original owner when it started life as a "P"?


Any history on that?


We were selling the last of our '97's in 2000 for almost new prices when they were pulled out of use.

Nope, it was bought at auction once before I got it.

Rearranged the dinky shop I have to work in and got it out of sight. Now I can work on it without the "park" having a fit. Will start pulling all the tins off next week since the tires rub on EVERYTHING bent. Then I will see if I can get it to fire.

Got her mostly apart, found a little surprise under all the grease and grime...

It's an easy repair, I just have to get to it....LOL. Went over the whole frame after that and found a small hole in the same place on the other side. Will have to fix that too but no big deal. Waiting parts needed to test fire her and I've fixed all the wiring damage from past owners and the accident.

Been beating and banging on her, got the wiring sorted and fixed, hell I even have front brakes now!

Changed the oil and filter today and other than a dipstick and a splash of gas.....I think she's ready to fire!

To much credit.....hahaha, it's fugly.

One step closer...worked on the wiring a bit more today, the anti-dive wiring is missing from the plug, like it never existed...lol, easy fix though.* Got the spots wired and in and the front is back together, and found some factory mirrors for $12.00...they look brand new......score!* I think I'll*fire her this weekend, the wife's a day sleeper, so I don't want to wake her when it bellows, and I expect some serious smoke for awhile.* *:whistling:
