Shouldn't have to adjust them.

I did my adjustables 2 and a half full turns. You want the pushrods to be able to spin, but have no side to side movement.

Unless the clacking drown's out the radio.............. ride it!!

Seriously though, it depends on the brand. Most are 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 turns.

Ironheads use hydraulic lifters? If so, then never.

Otherwise, turns will vary based on brand due to varying threads per inch.

As to how oftwn, dunno

thanks i just thought that i should be ck once and a while just like cars or they might bern a valve if they get to tight . I'm getting a noise now on left turns only i hope its a wheel bearing if not I'm screwed

fxr4mikey 09-07-2011 08:26 PM

ck the low speed muffler bearing ...... I had that problem once, forget now what I did to fix it ..... old here in SC ya know

Type O 09-07-2011 09:21 PM

i now notice a noise when going left hopefully it's a wheel bearing , also i thought i should do valve adjustment to keep from burning valves like on older cars

Check your front tire for cupping.

Sounds like a bad bearing buzz in a left turn on my RoadKing and it'll be cupped on the left side.

No idea why but it'll cup about the same time the rear wears out.

Been unable to find anything wrong.:badmood:
