I'd sure love to find out who this prick is that commented on that article, I AM one of those "F***ing union a$$holes are killing us with their incompetence" he speaks of. He needs to be fired for conduct unbecoming, yes that's a standard rule in our GCOR (general code of operating rules) which most class 1 roads use, and I'm fairly certain that offering to give referrals to complete strangers, after going over their resume and fixing it to be acceptable to his road falls under that catagory.

Are you kidding? I'd practically kill to get anyone a job, much less a loved one. Our company is starved for good employees right now. F***ing union a$$holes are killing us with their incompetence. All I ask is that you show up to work on time, do your job, get trains where they need to be when they need to be there, and I will write your recommendation to HR myself. Is that not reasonable?
If anyone is interested in working for the railroad, let me know. I've already set up a dummy email account where you can send your resume, minus personal information. I will edit it for you, and then send it back along with contact information and my personal call to HR should you be qualified and choose to apply.
Be forewarned, there is a lot of outdoors work, sometimes in inclement weather. We expect safety and efficiency. Much of your early work will be on-call. We pay well for this. $23 per hour is the entry-level wage as a freight conductor, averaged based upon how much work you do, and we pay claims bonuses for any unusual tasks you are asked to perform.
Miss a lunch? $12. Ride a freight car more than half a mile? $24. Get called to work on your rest? $210. Handle freight in a foreign yard? $210. Sound too good to be true? It isn't, and somehow we still have jackholes who say this isn't fair. F***ing unions. Just show up and do your job and I will gladly pay you the claims, as well as your wage. We have millions of dollars' worth of freight to move and no time to waste.
