Hi There
Didn't know whether to post this or not.:whistling: I have been fighting a "spongy" front brake for a while now. I had done about everything I knew to do and everything suggested here. I had a small vibration when applying the brake so I replaced the rotors. The left rotor was a bit warped and after the replacement I now have a full lever of brake.:woohoo: I do not have the occasional times of pulling the lever and going to the grip. So.....just in case someone that may have same symptoms, this was the solution to my issue.

Good to know. Just curious but was the warpage readily visible? Any pictures?

It was visiable after taking it off the rim and laying it on a flat surface. With the wheel on the bike, I could't really tell. At times I thought I saw it, other times....not so much. I could feel it in the braking, but again, I did not think it was enough to be overly concerned. When I had the bearings and new tire done last year, a good mechanic balanced the new tire and I asked him about it and he didn't see much either. Sorry no pics.

Yep, that'll do it, the warpage knocks back the pad and you have to "pump" the brakes some to take up the excess clearance between the pad and rotor.

Great catch.
