For those in the know, The Andy Griffith Show was the 'Northern Exposure' of the 1960's (more likely: Northern Exposure was the 'Andy Griffith Show' of the 1990's), a show about small town Americana.

I got to see it in prime time (but vaguely remember it), but I sure do remember watching it in syndication in the '70's & 80's.

...a comedy show which made you wish you had neighbors like Gomer, Goober, Floyd and even Otis, and a show that did not teach morals so much as it showed them.

...Yeah, Mr. Griffith, you dun good & I'm sure Deputy Fife is up there waiting for ya.

Thanks, Andy, for being part of my growin 'up.

R.I.P. Andy.

Somewhere wandering loose around Mayberry is a loaded goat.

Highmiles 07-04-2012 12:42 PM

He is all over the TV down here.
He put NC on the map.
Fortunately, many of the small towns here are "Mayberry" at their core.

RIP Andy.

From "The Andy Griffith Show" to "Matlock", I've watched Andy Griffith on TV most of my years.

There is a "Mayberry Cafe" in Danville, IN I've had the opportunity to eat at. They even have a vintage Sheriff's car in front.
