You can go to the Dawes Rolls online and look up your family name. Rolls include Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole people living in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) in 1898 through 1907 or so. If your people lived elsewhere, they are likely not included.

There is also an Eastern Cherokee tribe but I don't know anything about them beyond the existence of Guion Miller Roll for that tribe.
