During early motherhood, I went through a brief period where I didn't want my son playing with toy guns, not because I was antigun (I'm not) but because I wanted him to respect them as weapons and not toys.
When he was about two, he bit his toast into the shape of a pistol. Point taken. Squirt gun purchased.
