Consumer grade computers are crap. Anything you buy at a big box store or from the "home" section of a website (Dell) are built so poorly they typically only put either a 90 day or maybe a 1 year warranty on it. Anything past that, you are lucky it keeps running. Buy an enterprise grade computer, laptop or desktop, if you want them to last 3+ years like clockwork. Warranty covers them for that long, warranty service is much better, every single one that I have purchased like this over the past 20 years of being in the business have lasted 5+ years and usually just get shelved due to being slower than what I replaced it with and that is normally just due to the advancements in technology, not a deterioration of the unit itself.
