Tonopah to Caliente is 192 miles of nothing, puckerbrush, range cattle, antelopes and desert tortoises. Rachel (Area 51) is in the middle, but the local mine closed some many years ago and the two gas stations there closed.
I suppose someone that works at the Little A'Le'Inn may have a gallon to spare if you could convince them that you were in dire need.

That sounds like a pretty dry stretch, all right. We took 50 across NV thirty years ago, then south through a valley with a dozen apparently permanent dust devils spinning.
