... and I'll tell y'all about camping in New Mexico when I get home next week. We're spending three days in the high desert outside Santa Fe.
Leaving the bikes behind (alas) but riding through the Rockies that far is beyond me at this moment. We leave tomorrow "early" my husband says. I might mention that when we travel together, we never manage to get out of town before what he calls "the God-given hour of ten o'clock." He believes in a leisurely start to vacations. I want to put as much distance between me and reality as fast as possible. This is the first vacation we've had alone together since my parents took the kids to Arkansas and we went to Mesa Verde in 2000. Now one of those kids has two kids of his own and the other is on her way Saturday to be a wrangler at a lodge about five miles from Yellowstone.
