They carry a piece of lawn/garden timber and lean over so the frame supports the motorcycle.
We sometimes (like all the time) lean so far that other things than just the tires rub on the pavement. Floorboards are first, then sidestand springs. The pavement files away part of the spring.
So they take the bolt out and remove the sidestand bar.
