The 2004 and 2005 version was 13k to the Dept. What did you pay?
Out here in Calif, the dealers lease out the bike for $1 a year with a maint contract. After it is used for 12 to 18 mo, it is sold as a used bike with a tag of aroung 16k, unless they were able to get some takeoff seats and bags. Then, they might use it as a rental or will try to sell it for 17k.
The Calif bikes are considered escort bikes, because Calif has requirements that the standard police bike can not pass.
I bought mine out of state from a city that did not lease thier bikes, they bought them.
The police seat is very comfortable, but it puts you high in the saddle to catch more wind at speed. It is great for observant motor police, not so great at highway speeds.
