For at least 8 long years, we heard repeatedly that “Obama is going to seize our guns!”
President Obama’s actual main action regarding guns: he signed a law allowing permit-holders to carry guns in National Parks, which had been illegal previously.
Yet in the Trump administration’s first year, gun confiscations really do begin.
The reactionaries’ response: not a peep.

Oh, I agree with you. It is just the timing seems reversed. I am all for background checks. Unfortunately, most of the mass killers have no psychosis record. Should this be based on what medicine they take?

We've been begging them to enforce existing laws instead of piling on more. This is them doing what we (and you) have asked them to do.
No controversy. Pretty much EVERYONE agrees with what's being presented.

On a side note:

My family meets at the outer banks every other year for thanksgiving. We all went to the shooting range.....two of my most liberal siblings are now buying guns....one already purchased a pistol and is shopping shotguns. The other lives in MD so it’ll take a little while to actually purchase.

Like most are saying they should start out the story that out of 27,500,000 (that's million) NICS checks, 4,000 (that's thousand) fell through the cracks because of clerical errors or errors of them not being put in the system yet, due to staff backlogs / under staffing at the state / county / court level.


How about the Government getting back all the guns they sold South of the border for fast and furious? Were is the outrage over that?

Why, that is all of 0.0145 %. Yes, it is good that they are doing this now. All I was trying to do was point out the fear of Obama disarming everyone was a scare tactic and Trump doing it was unexpected.
I was not trying to bait into a political discussion. Sorry if it came out that way.

And, while we are here, do you think the individual states have a chance of not following the recently passed national reciprocity?

After the past few happenings (failures) I can see maybe they are looking harder how the system is broken or fails in some cases.

But then again every agency that needs to report to this database needs to do their job.


But getting rid of some clerical or paper work low pay scale people, in gov offices makes it look to the voters that the officials are doing something to save the taxpayers money.


But for every $2,700.00 a month office staff job they eliminate, they give themselves half of the savings in pay raises or bonuses.

This is not saying they are coming for our guns if you don't fall into the restrictions to not own one.

Like in Hawaii, they want to take away your right to own guns and are saying you must turn them in if you get a medical marijuana card. But...they say nothing about any criminals, that are prohibited by laws from owning firearms, to turn their illegal guns in.

But they are slowly whittling away at this right, tiny bit by bit.

I doubt that the National Reciprocity Bill will get out of the senate. It only passed in the house version.

The states will figure out ways to delay or not allow it to work. And I am sure there will be hefty "roaming" fees like the phone companies used to collect.

The second amendment should be all the national reciprocity that we need.

Well, if there's gonna be a national reciprocity law, then there oughta be a national conceal standard for anyone who wants to conceal carry.
