From the Disney University Parking Lot

During Molly's "onboarding" (which I was priveleged to sit through and help her with her W4, etc.) after she was hired, the nice Venezuelan girl (Rosa) was very clear about them needing to show up 15 <stage whisper 30> minutes early for their Traditions class at Disney U on their first day.
One minute late and they would be sent home and would then need to call their recruiter (ONCE), leave a message and wait (up to 3 DAYS) for a return phone call to be rescheduled for their Traditions class (up to 3 WEEKS hence).
So, I had Molly call me at 5:00 this morning when she got up (had my alarm set for 5:15 so I could call her if she hadn't called by then). All went as planned, and these are some of the first txt messages we got from her when she arrived. I'm so proud...

I'm not the only one who had the whole "get here stupid early" idea. We're all just sitting in our cars avoiding each others eyes. Bahahahahaha

Apparently I'm the only one comfortable enough to have my dome light on to read. Everyone else is trying to use the light from the lamps haha. Woohoo!

BTW, at the briefing during the onboarding about dress and facial hair and such, I got a little smile from Rosa and a comment about it not applying to me since I was not there as a new employee when they got to mustaches...

There's a reason Disney is Disney. It's not by accident that the guest experience there is what it is.
Anybody who's used to what they get at WDW is generally appalled at the behavior and appearance of the employees at Universal, etc.
I truly believe that Molly will positively thrive there.

Good on Molly for taking them at their word on that. When a company is turning away thousands of applicants, they are not going to be bothered with people that can't be bothered to be on time.

Reminds me of a time when my mentor in telecommunications told us anything less than being present 5 minutes prior to the start of the meeting was considered being late. He lived by that credo as many of my peers found out the hard way

Spot on.
They actually have a full stable of customer service consultants which offer training in the Disney philosophy of knowing your customers.
I was privileged to experience one of their seminars through a previous employer.

It was AMAZING to hear them describe the lengths to which they go to provide the Disney experience.
AND, I'm not even a huge Disney fan -- BUT, they know their stuff and they deliver more than their customers expect in most cases.
