which cam
I have my bike over at at friends house, using his shop, and pretty much letting him do all the work replacing my cam chain tensioners. They were in SURPRISINGLY good condition for 70K miles, they look almost exactly like the did at at 30K, a little darker on the wear surface, but not much more wear really.
Anyway, to replace them both, he's got to pull the cam plate, so I cant really find any good reason to not go ahead and do cams at the same time. I just want to go back with a drop in cam using the stock chain setup, had wanted to swap over to the hydraulic tensioner system, but being furloughed from the RR at the moment finances to really allow for that. What would be my best cam choice for a drop in cam that will make better power with true duals, and big sucker air cleaner that I have now, that will pay even better dividends next winter if I go back in and take it to 95 CI, and get a set of takeoff heads I have ported, or go with SE heads at that time, whichever seems to make the most sense when that time comes around? No brand loyalty, or anything on my part, I want to use what's best for power regardless of brand or anything else. So far at the moment the plan is to replace the tensioners, go back with adjustable pushrods for ease of install, replace the lifters for the heck of it, I seem to recall some having issues with the stock ones collapsing on the hydraulic side or something so thought cheap insurance. Don't really have plans for anything else at the moment, but just can't justify being this far into it and not doing cams while I'm there. I'm running a thundermax auto tuner, so shouldn't be an issue to find a close map to whatever I end up going with and let it take over from there. I know not the best tune possible, but that seemed like the best option for a descent tune around these parts at the time, this part of Texas isn't really ripe with custom tuners. so I welcome your ridicule and assistance!

Andrews 26, good torque bump that even duals will work with even better with 95"

Yep, 26 unless you want to up the compression. They do NOT like compression. 95" cast flat tops w/ factory heads will get you 9.4:1, which is where you want to be.

Yep, I'll recommend the 26s as well.
I'm running V & H Dresser Duals and CVO mufflers with Fullsac 1.75" baffles. The cams helped make 77 horse, 87.5 ft. lbs. torque in my 88. Peak torque was at 3.2K rpm, I think 80 or 82 ft. lbs. of torque at 2K, pretty flat torque curve 'til like 4.5 K. Bike was a treat to ride, plenty of roll on power, pretty good fuel economy if you could avoid throttle abuse. Pretty easy to get 40 mpg on the highway. I've since had the 88 bumped up to 95 c.i. Motor is still pretty fresh (130 miles), but it seems to have more roll on power now than it did as an 88. I'm using SE flat top pistons, jugs were zero decked, no milling of the heads, just light port work and a valve job. Using a Screaming Eagle Super Pro Tuner for tuning.

Check the T-Man 555.
Nephew put one in his '10 Ultra with a stage 1. Extremely happy. It's a bolt in.

Way too much cam for an 88.

One more for the 26. I did the hydraulic tensioner upgrade from Herko with Andrews 26N, screaming chicken adjustable pushrods and new lifters. It works really well, bit more power. Not arm stretching by any means but feelable if you know what I mean. I planned to go 95 or better but do not need the extra expense right now either.
PM me some time and we'll talk Railroad. I am disabilty retired after 30 years and know how that furlough crap works. Good luck. CR

That may be too much for an 88, but it looks very interesting for a 103. Especially the 555 torquster

ok, andrews 26 it is. the G is gear drive, the N is for new hydraulic, I need the TW26A right? part # 149901 at DK if thats the right one, there's a part # H14179 at DK as well, same price but pic shows front bearings with it I think, I think this is for 02 with splined cam drive sprocket or something, but under fitment, they both show to fit '06 FLHTCUI, confusing myself there.
DK site also states - "Andrews recommends using their steel cam drive sprocket H11-120 and crankshaft cam drive sprocket H14-175 (must be purchased separately)." necessary in yall's opinion if mine are fine? Any suggestions on best lifters, or adjustable push rods to go with? Oil pump? dont really want to spend $300 on one if I don't need it, if mine looks ok use it? My pressure is "ok" I guess, when bike gets hot it drops down lower at anything other than running down the highway, at idle it falls off gauge, but dealer said "they all do that" ... it's never given me any issue so it's got to have some oil pressure even at idle, showing it or not I guess. any other suggestions ya'll have I'm all ears while were in the cam chest, might as well do whats best to do there within my budget. Baisly spring still a recommended change? I think I got one a LONG time ago and never put it in, probably have to buy another one.

Not necessary to replace the sprockets if they still look good. If you get the drag specialties part numbers you can order the cams from Lakeshore HD and save the sales tax and get 20% off. Jenny can probably get them for you also.

Not sure if an '06 has the hydraulic cam chain tensioners, but I think they are still the spring type and I would install the hydraulic tensioner upgrade kit. (either SE or Andrews)
Baisly spring will help unless you upgrade the oil pump too Harley "B" lifters can't be beat Make sure you replace your bearings too

IIRC, the kit w/ the good bearings (Timken and Torrington?) is available as an S&S or Andrews kit.
Like Joe said, don't scrimp here.
