Lt. Jerry Clark

I met first Lt. Clark almost two decades ago when I went to the detention center to fill out paperwork required for us to hold NA meetings in the facility. A personal interview and background check were part of the requirements. Near the end of the interview, this gentleman suddenly smiled at me and said, "There's not much sense in me doing a background check. I'm not going to find anything, am I?" He signed my paperwork and told me to call and ask specifically for him if I ever needed anything- and he meant it, too.

Men and women who work in detention centers and jails and who keep their humanity are among the finest people there are. Lt. Clark shone among them. He is part of the reason I chose to work for the SO as part of the victim response unit.
