Mongoose (Tony Kaspar) 6/18/1951-8/26/2011
"Nine mile skid on a ten mile ride, hot as a pistol but cool inside.
Cat on a tin roof, dogs in a pile, Nothin' left to do but smile, smile, smile!!!! Now he's gone, now he's gone Lord he's gone, he's gone. Like a steam locomotive, rollin' down the track He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone. Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange, Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain." Grateful Dead Anthony J. Kaspar of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2011. He was 60 years old. Tony was born on June 18, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, to Earl and Dorothy Kaspar. He was a beloved husband, father, and brother. Tony lived in Hermosa Beach, California, before moving to Indianapolis in 1982. He married his wife of 26 years, Denise, in 1984. Together they raised two daughters, Lauren, born in 1985, and Susan, born in 1987. Tony’s wife and daughters were the loves of his life. He also loved riding his Harley motorcycle, spending time with his many friends, and listening to music. Tony was a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in mechanical engineering technology. He worked for many years for American Monitor and later for Allison Transmission. Tony is survived by his wife, Denise (Callis) Kaspar, his daughters Lauren and Susan Kaspar, all of Indianapolis, and his sister Christine Bell of Phoenix, Arizona. Memorial donations may be made to Health Net, 55 S. State St., Indianapolis, IN 46201. Tony (Mongoose) introduced himself to the Doof forum in February of 2008. He followed the adventures of DC from the VTF forum for a couple of years. He was the proud owner of a Dyna. He began riding when he was 20 years old on Japanese made bikes. He then said he got smarter and moved up to a Triumph. He took a break while the kids were young and then bought the T-Sport, which was his first Harley. On July 8th 2008, he visited his sister in Phoenix and borrowed a bike. He and his sister did his 43 ride that day. It was 107 degrees. One of his favorite trips was the Route 66 escapade to California. He loved to talk about it. He made several of the Doof get- togethers including the National in Eureaka Springs. He loved to ride and always enjoyed a cold Coors Light or Dos Equis. Tony had a quick wit about him. His humor always seemed to come out of no-where. If Tony had enemies they were few and far between. He was one of those guys you just liked. Tony was an avid “Dead Head” and the quote above was from the song he requested to be played at the memorial service.
