melted rain cover on pipes ..... removal
OK, I did the search and all that ....
I'm not one for using abrasives like steel wool and sos pads. But I see that some of yall use Easy Off ..... Hot or Cold pipes ? ALSO, and this is key for me....... I read the label on the can of Heavy Duty Easy Off Oven Cleaner ........ among all the other things that it IS NOT SAFE to use on, chrome is listed ........ Help a poor fella out ................ Thanks, Mikey

I never had any luck with easy off. I found a little naval jelly and a sharp lucite scrapper work well.

I had a bad oil leak last year....turned one pipe black with burnt on oil. I used oven cleaner - heated the pipe up to about 250 degrees, sprayed on the oven cleaner an' let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then I used a scrub brush and lightly scrubbed the area and hosed it off - it took every last bit off the pipes! It also takes off marks from shoes melting on the pipes, so it should work for you.

Try a Scotch-Brite pad. Not as abrasive as steel wool or an SOS pad.

I just skimmed but let me say this....NOTHING has ever worked as good as a little tube of hot iron cleaner from walmart. It is made to clean clothes irons.
Ride the bike, get the pipes hot, squirt it on...rub it off with a rag, simple costs 2 bucks |
