Dang! Another Gadget I Will Have to Buy
I've been wanting a bike cam but the GoPros are so awkward-looking; the Contour is sleek but they went out of business (and apparently they came back) and now THIS pops up in my email and damn, it looks slick.
the devilment will no doubt reside in the details...

Sena is passing Garmin as my favored accessory manufacturer.

I ALMOST bought a GoPro (several times). Then when Sena came out with their GoPro adapter bluetooth apparatus, that almost did it but man, what a huge heavy package for the helmet!
I held off while hoping that the *next* GoPro would maybe have bluetooth or some other remote control integrated. I looked at this and immediately thought it looked perfect...but what about the cost of all the mounts and waterproof case and etc and etc that would drive the cost out of sight? I found the "what's in the box" page here. All out of excuses, mine is ordered. EDIT to add: reading the website I already started to worry because I find no mention of memory cards; if it was limited to on-board storage, that would be a deal breaker. Despite the total absence of any mention on the website, the downloaded manual shows that it does, indeed, use an SD card. It's also required for operation. It doesn't actually mention compatibility with SDHC cards, but that's no biggie. It is par for SENA to communicate poorly. (yes, irony noted) I suspect that the card slot is not really built with the obsolete SD-only components and does include the SDHC contacts. We'll see.

I'm making a LOT of assumptions here, but the promise of voice-control of the camera or ANY kind of remote control is a grand step vs GoPro. Add in the ability to narrate/comment during the video real-time is pretty cool (OK, nerdy). It also captures the audio of others who are intercommed (is that even a word?) The thing is smaller than a business card while about 7/8" thick. Hell, it's its the size of the battery from my regular camera.
I hope it turns out to be as cool as I imagine.

Update: I was immediately hit with "backordered" when I placed the order with Sena.
Since they are the mfr, I figured having an order in their system would put me at the front of the line so I waited. Yesterday, a RevZilla email claimed they had them so I checked with Sena....nope, still none. So a few minutes ago I ordered it from Anthony. I'll let ya know how it works out. *I actually got Sena on the phone, surprisingly, to see what's up and the girl tried to explain how it's true that their sellers get the product but backorders don't...and I just said never mind.*

There's more.
I had emailed them yesterday (using their generic form) asking for an ETA. Today (no email reply yet) I called them early, talked to the girl as related above. Told her thanks but no thanks. Then I ordered thru RevZilla. Shortly after that I get a reply to my previous email unrelated to the phone call: Sorry, we have no idea when we'll get them in stock. Not expecting anyone would likely read it, I penned a pointed but short missive outlining that I ordered elsewhere and conveying my disappointment in Sena's communication. Yes, it was actually very short and NOT ugly. Next, I get a reply to THAT email thread with my message included but not heeded. The new message from Sena was "Hi Ricky, we found a couple units in the warehouse so we will ship one out to you today." I replied "don't ship". So, I don't know. In a few days I will have an unknown number of prism cameras...or perhaps none. I very much like their products. But, dang.

Once the novelty of the camera wears off, it'll find it's way to the box of misfit toys.......
I haven't used my GoPro in at least two, probably three, years.

I have so much stuff on my bars I had to make a little bracket to mount a recent gadget addition to the fairing just so it wouldn't ALSO be on the crowded handlebars. I looks all ShrinerBike, but it's sort of entertaining watching all that stuff shake about at stoplights ;^) Quote:
This morning I got a notice that Sena did cancel my order...and another that RevZilla did ship my Prism.

I mean mount the phone.
The remote has a keyfob attachment, and is about the size of a large keyfob.... and also has slots for a nylon strap to mount to your wrist.

Be sure to get one of these, too.
For like when you wanna hang that camera somewhere else on the bike instead of the handlebars...... Pedco Ultra Clamp.

I don't know how I missed this thread, but I noticed nobody threw this new JVC into the mix.
Anyone try one of these yet. http://www.cyclegear.com/JVC-GC-XA2-...-Action-Camera I know it's too late for you Ricky but someone might consider this. Priced as package deal from Cycle Gear, the JVC doesn't need a water resistant case to keep it safe. No remote operation, but the buttons are easily accessible. BOB
