Should One Just Knock on the Door?
So the Wife and I are muddling around in clay games. I got a sweet little Citori CXS but in 20ga do to my original 12 being marred on the wood slightly upon delivery and Das Auto was concerned with the heft.
Now to the gist of it, two doors down lives a widower for just the last 4 years but I know for fact that he was a highly competitive clay sports participant and his name is engraved on a few trophies at our club. I have only exchanged pleasantries over the last 15yrs as they, now he seem quite private. I'm fairly certain he no longer even shoots..... Is it bad form just to go up and knock? I'd wager he's a wealth of info and maybe some nice equipment, old is good sometimes. I always shut the tunes off on my bike and idle out of our little cul-de-sac going to work, he can't dislike me too bad.... lol What say Ye? Dirk

I'm going to be the contrarian here. If he's lived there 15 years, and you've only ever had a passing brief hello, and you think he is into privacy, I would respect that.
Now, if you catch him out in the yard, and can say you heard he used to shoot competitively, he may surprise you and engage the subject. In that case it's your time to go for broke.
